By the time Nancy had made it home it was pretty late. Ted was asleep, Mike had somehow made it to Dustin's, and Karen.. Karen was waiting for her.

Nancy was about to walk up to her room hoping to avoid the scolding her mom was probably gonna try and give her. but before she could Karen sighed and said "can we talk?"

Robin made it home grinning. she walked in and Steve said with a warm smile "it went well I'm guessing?" she happily nodded and was about to tell Steve all about her date. but before she could he said "before you tell me about it there's something I have to tell you.. your parents, well your mom anyway. she called and asked if we could do dinner and church with them tomorrow"

"What did you say?"

"I said I'd have to ask you"

"Well I guess we could but.. what about Eddie? don't you usually hang out with him on Sunday?"

"Yes. but unfortunately we have to keep up appearances of our "relationship". Eddie knows that." Steve said almost sadly.

"ok then, let's do it." Robin said "anyway about my date with Nance..."

She just started telling him all about it to get off the other uncomfortable subject.

Nancy wasn't looking forward to hearing what Karen had to say. but agreed to talking anyway.

"I-I wanted to apologize- well that was unexpected -I shouldn't have taken your new.. relationship. so badly. I like Robin but-

"but what?" Nancy got a little aggravated because she thought Karen was about to insult Robin.

-but I'm just worried. you know how the world is-

"You mean like how you are.. or were?" Nancy asked more upset then mad.

-yes. and I'm sorry no one should treat you badly for who you have feelings for. I know that now. I did some reading on it at the library.. a lot of reading. and now I know there's nothing wrong about it but.. others might not see it that way. so just be careful who you let know okay?"

"Wait so.. you won't be mad if I continue to date Robin?" Nancy was surprised. Karen may of really hurt her with how she acted before and that's not ok. but she's getting better and actually apologized which made Nancy really happy.

"If she makes you happy which it seems like she does, then no I won't be mad. If she makes you happy, that makes me happy. you're my daughter Nancy I'm sorry I didn't have a better motherly reaction before."

Nancy just hugs her because she felt that was a good way for the conversation to end. And she realized after all she's been through this past.. well years actually. she really needed a hug from her mom.

She knows Karen usually just goes along with "how the world works" no matter how wrong the world is in this instance. but at least she's trying to change that mindset. which for Nancy is enough. for now at least.

Robin barely slept last night due to the stress she knows she's going to go through today. she knows her parents will expect her to be still and quiet today "lady like" if you will. to keep up appearances at church. which is ridiculous Richard already tarnished those so what's the point. honestly what's the point of any of this? and why must they get to know Steve when they'd refuse to get to know her.. the real her.

Robin hears a light knock on her door and Steve peaks his head in "Ready?" "Yeah just a minute"

Robin looks up at the mirror "I hate this" she whispers before heading outside and getting in the car with Steve.
