I woke up with dried tears on my cheeks and sweat covering my body. I was wearing the same clothes from the day before, clearly in horrible shape and looking like a hobo.My alarm for school blared throughout the room. I allowed it to continue ringing while I lay in bed. I rolled onto my back, with my arms and legs sprawled out like a starfish. The room was fucking hot, especially with the heavy blankets covering me.
I threw the puffy covers off, allowing cool air to meet my skin. Finally, some comfort, or so I thought. My clothes were uncomfortable and made me feel dirty. I knew my hair would be oily; it didn't take an expert to know that stress and anxiety cause oily hair.
I sighed, shutting the loud alarm off. Mia was most likely still asleep. She always woke up for school way later than she ever should. I stayed in bed, lying like a goddamn starfish.
"Skipping school again, I see." I heard Mia's voice ring through the room. Of course, she would wake up early just to nag me.
"Yes," I replied flatly.
Mia leaned against the doorway, allowing her weight to shift onto one foot while crossing her arms. "We need to talk about what happened yesterday," She started.
"No, we don't." I sighed, rolling over in bed to lay on my stomach.
"Damn it, Leo. Let me help you!" She yells.
I covered my ears to shield my hearing from her. I sat up in bed to face her. She looked pissed and didn't seem like she was going to leave me alone, even if I asked.
"Just leave me alone, Mia." I argued, standing from the bed.
"Not until you give me an explanation."
"An explanation for what?" I asked, walking to the closet to choose clothes for the day.
"An explanation of why you were carried up here last night like a princess and why that man you call a boyfriend said you were attacked at work." I could tell by her face that she wouldn't back down easily. I either had to tell her what happened or escape this apartment.
"Well, because you asked so nicely, some weird guy has been coming by the café. Last night, that guy got physical. He didn't hurt me, so you don't have to worry." I stated, pulling out a shirt and sweatshirt from the closet.
"Okay. So why did that guy carry you up here last night?" She asked calmly.
"Because he cares about me!" I shouted, raising my voice."I was tired and upset, and I definitely didn't want to deal with your argumentative ass!"
Mia remained silent, studying me and why I had yelled at her. I had never yelled like that at my family before. Sure, we had our disagreements and arguments, but they rarely got serious.
"Did you tell mom?" She said calmly.
I shook my head, gathering the other clothes I'd need to change into. I walked past Mia toward the bathroom. I set my clothes on the bathroom counter and started the water. Luke warm water rushed from the fosset.
Because why would rich people wait for the water to turn hot? They're rich; they don't have time for that.
I took a nice, warm shower, cleaning myself of yesterday's tears and sweat. I walked out of the bathroom feeling refreshed and wearing clothes that were clean and not filled with grime from last night.
I went to the kitchen, where I met with Chloe and Mia. Chloe was standing at the island, while Mia sat across from her, sitting at the bar part of the island in a high chair.
They had been chatting with one another, probably about what to do with me now that I live with them.
They looked at me in sync when I entered. I just about fell through the floor. The girls had a look of questioning and disappointment in their eyes when they saw me.
