The whole situation with that intruder was really starting to get to me. I know Corbin fixed the door and that the apartment is back to the way it was before, but I have this eerie feeling.
I just don't feel safe being here alone anymore.
Corbin will be back tomorrow, though. So anytime I feel unsafe, I'll be able to call him. I wish I hadn't overreacted like I did. I could've ended our relationship over a hunch. Would that have made me a bad person?
I rolled my eyes at my thoughts and got out of bed, getting ready for work. Another day passed with no customers. I don't mind, though; I'm getting paid either way. But seriously, I should start looking for a new job.
Any day, Trey could decide to shut this place down. It's not like it's making him any money. I was playing a game on my phone when the door chime rang throughout the café.
I looked up to see the strange man from the day before. I tried not to stare as he approached the counter, but I couldn't help it. Ever just see someone and know they've done some bad stuff? Well, this guy is one of them. He has those crazy eyes.
He walked to the counter with a satisfied smile, wonder what for.
"What would you like to order?" I asked, putting on an overly happy smile.
"A coffee, one cream, and one sugar, like last time." He stated, handing me his card.
I rang him up and made his drink. It wasn't long to make, so the man stood at the counter, waiting. I handed him his drink, ready to get back to my phone. The man's hand touched mine as he took the drink.
I yanked my hand back to me, holding it to my chest.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to touch you like that." He said it with that off-putting smile.
"No problem." I said stiffly. There was most definitely a problem. His hand felt cold and clammy—gross.
He went to sit at a table as he sipped his coffee. He sat there for over ten minutes, just messing around on his phone. It looked like he was texting someone, but that's none of my business.
While the man looked at his phone, he spoke, "So, Leo, do you go to college?" He asked, looking up at me with a sinister smile.
"Why do you ask?" I gave him a concerned look. Who in their right mind would ask a stranger something like that?
"Just wondering. You work nights, but you also look young. I hope you aren't over working yourself."
"Well, I do go to school, but I manage my time well, so work doesn't interfere with my studies." I said. I tried not to reveal anything important, like how I'm still in high school.
"If you don't mind me asking, how old is a young man like you?" He asked with a wicked smirk.
"Old enough," I joked.
"Ok, ok, I understand you don't want to tell me. I just wanted to know, because I'd hate to hit on a minor, that would just be wrong." He spoke seductively.
"Oh, uh, ha, that's um..." I stuttered. There's no way he's hitting on me right now. Nobody acts this creepy when hitting on someone!
The man quirked his brow, waiting for my answer. "Yeah, you're right, that would be wrong. Uhm, I'm not a minor." I stated, placing both of my hands flat on the counter.
"That's good to know," The man swirled the liquid around in his cup. "So, what's your major?" He asked.
"My what?"
