I woke with a yawn, stretching my tense muscles. My eyes remained closed as I made myself comfortable. When I was ready to get up for the day, I peeled my eyes open. There was evidence of tear stains on my face, which made sense because of last night.

Everything from last night came rushing back to me in a flash. Michael slammed the door, and Corbin arrived to save me. It was so vague in my head. I sat up and looked around the room I was in.

My brain short circuited as I realized where I was. Corbin's guest room had a fragrant smell from the detergent he used on the blankets. The soft linens comforted me like they used to.

Did he really bring me to his home? I hung my legs over the side of the bed, smiling when the soft carpet greeted my feet. The cool air of the room touched every part of me. I looked down and found myself mostly naked.

All I was wearing were the white lacy panties I had worn yesterday. I blushed at the thought of Corbin changing me for bed, just to find me wearing panties.

Who am I kidding? He probably thought it was an attempt at getting him back. If only I could deny that reasoning. I didn't plan on calling him last night, but Michael left me no choice. After I forced him off of me by kicking him in the family jewels, I knew he'd beat me.

I shook my head, clearing those thoughts away. I stood up and used the nightstand to balance myself. My vision went dark as soon as I stood up, so I sat back on the chair as fast as I could.

I couldn't help but feel lightheaded; I hadn't had water since before Michael's party. I placed a hand on my head, feeling a headache develop. I needed to get some water before I faced the effects of dehydration.

When I opened my eyes, I noticed a bottle of water on the nightstand, along with a little note held down by the water bottle. I didn't waste any time opening that water. I chugged over half the bottle before taking a breath of air.

I screwed the lid onto the top of the bottle and set it aside for when I was ready for more. I picked up the note and read the words.

'Your clothes are on the dresser. Come down when you're ready to talk.'

I turned my head in the direction of the dresser, seeing the clothes the note was talking about. I set the note back onto the nightstand and went to get changed.

I didn't recall wearing pants or shorts when Corbin found me, so why were there shorts folded on the dresser? They were mine, but I didn't know how he got them. I think I may have left them over at some point. How embarrassing.

I got dressed in the clothes and drank the rest of the water. My lightheadedness seemed to fade after a little while.

The note had said to go downstairs when I was ready, but was I? I don't think I would be able to face Corbin. Not after what Lucas did. I couldn't guarantee I wouldn't cry, because it was a high possibility.

I swallowed my ego and opened the door. The familiar scent of mahogany and teak wood greeted my nose. I loved how his house smelled; it was to die for.

I took nervous steps down the stairs when I wondered where he wanted me to go. I went to the living room, where I saw Corbin reading a book.

The archway into the room faced the back of the couch, so when I approached, I was coming from behind Corbin. I stopped in the archway, not confident enough to walk right up to him. I stayed silent, enjoying this calm atmosphere, which was quickly turning tense.

"I'm sorry," I uttered.

Corbin turned his head to hear me better but still didn't talk to me. He continued to read his book, ignoring my apology.
