Chapter Twenty-One: Runihurah

I noticed a sudden change in my son over the past couple of days. I figured the cause had been because of that slave girl. She had listened and told him that they could no longer converse with one another. I may have underestimated the emotional connection between them a bit, but that was no matter. She had done well, for that I would reward her and her family generously. I chuckled. My son would soon forget about that slave and move on to brighter and greener pastures. After all, he had the princess to worry about. Their wedding day was growing close and soon the girl would be a far and distant memory. It wasn't healthy for a prince of Egypt to be seen cavorting about with a slave even if there was nothing behind the act itself.

I wandered the palace halls, my mind filled with important agendas that needed to be tended to but alas, I was bored of work and needed a small bit of time to myself. As I wandered about I fortunately ran into the princess. "Ah, princess Tahirah, I was just thinking about you my dear. Please, walk with me." I motioned for her to join me at my side. "Hello, Pharaoh. What can I do for you?" I smiled. Such a polite young and beautiful woman, "I need a few words with you. As you know, I took care of that little problem you brought to my attention a few days ago. Everything has gone back according to plan. But there is something I need you to do for me." She looked up at me curiously and I only smiled. "Of course my Pharaoh, anything."

I smiled again and patted her hand as I held it in my own. "Good, good. The prince has been looking a little down and I need you to cheer him up, make him forget about that girl. You're a smart and beautiful woman, I'm sure there is something you could do to bring his attention back to you, is there not?" I looked to her with an arched brow. She turned red but that only gave me an answer of knowing she did have something she could do. "Of course my Pharaoh, I will do my best to bring the prince back to us. And, thank you for taking care of it. I would hate for the slaves to think they have free reign because of one slave." I nodded my head at her words. "Now, run along. The prince is in the training room he should be close to finishing up. See if he needs anything and tend to him, my dear." She nodded her head. "Of course, thank you, my Pharaoh. I will not let you down." With a nod of her head she left me in search for my son.

I sighed. If he wanted to continue being a prince, he better damn well start acting like one again or else he will find himself in bigger trouble than he could handle.
