Day 11: Love Notes

Todoroki was lost in thought in Present Mic's class, which was not normal for one of the smartest hero-in-training. Today was October 11th, which means one thing...It was the one-year anniversary when he and Cortez became good friends. It wasn't the anniversary for them to be a couple that is not until the summer, but this day was special in just the same.

'I wonder what I should do. She and I have different classes this week so we won't be able to see each other until the weekend...'He thought, bouncing his leg in nervousness, he rarely does this. Todoroki was so distracted that when he was called on by his teacher, he did not acknowledge or respond.

Present Mic had no choice. "TODOROKI!!" The dual-haired teen jumped and covered his ears in pain when his English teacher screamed at him with his Quirk. "DID YOU LOSE YOUR HEAD, GET IT BACK IN HERE!"

"The only thing I lost is my hearing." Todoroki retorted, glaring at his teacher. "As for the answer to your question, perpendicular is spelled wrong and the conjunction between bike and commuting should be for, not to."

"You are correct!" Present Mic said and went back to his board to do the corrections. "Now, Midoriya..."

Todoroki went back to his thoughts. 'I should just write a letter, see if she wants to do something fun this weekend. If she accepts I know she will include staying up for the sunrise.' He smiled and got back on track before his Megaphone teacher screamed at him again.

Later that day the girls were coming out of their Hero Art class looking forward to lunch. Cortez brought some more of her cooking that Tsuyu and Uraraka wanted to try so she had to get to her locker first to retrieve the Mexican-style bento.

"Huh? What's this?" Cortez asked when she noticed an envelope slightly sticking out of one of the locker vents.

"What is it, Aura-Chan, kero?" Tsuyu asked and looked behind her friend's shoulder. It showed Cortez's nickname Todoroki had for her with blue snowflakes around the i.

Mina happened to see the envelope and went into nosy mode. "Ooooh, what is that? Is that a love letter?"

Cortez groaned. 'Dammit, Pinky. Why do you have to be in everyone's business?' She was about to tell her off when the person started screaming.

"Hey, let me go! I want to read some of that spicy tea!" Mina yelled, flailing along as Momo was dragging her to the cafeteria while giving her minty-haired friend a wink of 'I got you.'

Uraraka and Tsuyu shook their heads, "I swear, that nosiness of hers will definitely kill her." Uraraka said as she too looked at the letter. "Is it from Todoroki?"

"I doubt that would kill Mina," Cortez said and opened up the letter. "Yes, it is from Canelo, it has been a few days since we talked."

Luna,

It has been a full year since you and I had a real conversation. You never gave up when I wanted to go into my dark thoughts. You would try everything to keep me distracted whether it was asking some questions about the studies, quirks, or techniques to the unique derpiness that brought laughter to everyone, including me. Ever since that day, you have made me feel lighter and I am now grateful for you to be a part of my life.

I would like to take you somewhere special, your choice.

Canelo

Cortez went wide-eyed and immediately looked at her calendar. Shit, I totally forgot today was the 11th. She thought in embarrassment then smiled while Tsuyu and Uraraka were awed at the cuteness. Damn Canelo, you are very romantic. "I need to get him back, that was the sweetest thing he said to me, it has been a year."

Tsuyu agreed. "He definitely is a charmer, kero. What are you going to do next Aura-Chan?"

Uraraka agreed. "Yes, you definitely have to write a love note to him back!"

Cortez put one finger on her chin in thought. "I have a few things in mind, writing things like this is not my forte though..." She then smiled sweetly, giving some thought. "I will write a poem back, then I can make Soba for him on the weekend."

"You always think like that, love is where the stomach is, kero." Tsuyu said and smiled at her friend.

"Well, I am Hispanic." She chuckled as she and her friends walked towards the cafeteria.

-NEXT DAY-

Todoroki and the group were getting the history class textbooks for Cementoss's class when the dual-haired teen noticed an envelope and a small red box wrapped in mint-colored ribbons. It had Canelo written on it in purple.

"Is that from Aura-Chan?" Midoriya asked when he noticed Todoroki holding the envelope. He then smiled. "Maybe she is replying back to your letter.'

Todoroki jolted in surprise. "You knew?"

Midoriya nodded. "You seemed pretty distracted yesterday so I thought you may be thinking about the day you and she became friends." Then he smiled apologetically. "I also saw you head towards her locker before heading to the cafeteria so I kind of put two and two together."

Todoroki deadpanned. "You have been hanging out with Luna too much..."

Midoriya chuckled with a slight sweatdrop, "Sorry."

"Just teasing," Todoroki chuckled and opened up the envelope, and came across a poem.

"Fire and Ice usually never blend,

Yet somehow you were able to warm my soul and soothe my heart

we were able to become friends on this very day

One year ago seems like yesterday

You dealt with my sorrow and my pain

My anger and rage

Yet no matter how hard I tried to hide my pain away

You too saw my struggles and supported me in the same way

You have now started to mend my heart

With compassion, love, and patience

So I would like to give back to Tenfold

With my heart, soul, and chocolate mold.

Inside the locker there was a small box wrapped in a mint-green bow and inside was a wide assortment of homemade chocolates in shapes and colors. He popped one that was shaped like a sugar skull into his mouth and once he bit into it his eyes widened as the cinnamon chocolate combo just melted right onto his tongue.

"Hey, Todoroki. You okay? I have never seen you make that face before." Kaminari said suddenly, getting Todoroki out of his mindset. "What did Cortez give you, you looked like you were in bliss."

Todoroki blushed while Midoriya chuckled at his expression. "Luna made me some chocolates, one of them was pretty good." 'She upped me again, damn it.' Now to figure out what to do this weekend.
