Katie and I have an eight year old son, y/s/n. She's been away recently due to work and me and y/s/n like to film videos for her in case she doesn't have the time to call us like today.

"We went to the store today because y/s/n needed some new clothes because they were getting a little tight on him and he wanted to show you what he got" I said turning the phone to him. I gave him a thumbs up signaling him to go.

"I got this shirt" he said holding up a red shirt with some characters from a show he watches. "And this sweatshirt" he said holding up all black sweatshirt with a logo in the middle of it.

He continued to show the things he got eventually forgetting what he was doing and talking about nothing.

I wrapped the video up and sent it to Katie.

I woke up to hear y/s/n talking to himself in the living room.

I went to go see what he was doing to find him on my phone FaceTiming Katie.

"How did you get my phone" I questioned walking over to him. "Is that your mom? Can you give her the phone" I heard Katie ask.

He handed me the phone and went to go watch tv.

"You know I've been on the phone with him for like an hour" she said as I was walking back to my room. "He knows to wake me up if something is wrong or if he needs something. It's just hard to adjust cause you're usually the one to get up with him. But we make it work." "I know" she sighed.

"I'm hoping we'll get through everything fast. I really don't want to be away for that long. And thank you for the video. You know I love getting them." "Y/s/n loves making them. He begs to do it all the time." "I miss you." "I miss you too. Everyday is closer to you coming home so it's fine. Y/s/n asks for you every day. He's getting antsy waiting for you to come home. More than me."

"I just want to be home with you guys" she pouted. "It's fine. I think I might be able to get some days off." "Really? Don't do it if you really can't. It's okay. I really shouldn't be gone for much longer." "Don't worry about it. I'll figure it out myself just wait."

I was really upset Katie couldn't be here. Y/s/n was upset she couldn't be here.

He had his first basketball game and she couldn't make it. I knew he was upset. I knew Katie was upset. I know she fought to be here.

When we got home Y/s/n wanted to make a video.

"I got so much play time today. I made three baskets and one of them was from the three point line. Ma told me she recorded the game so you can still watch it. You have to call tomorrow or I'm going to be mad. Ma is forcing me to get in the shower right not so I have to go. Love you bye" he said quickly stopping the video.

I sent the video and got him all ready for bed and then got settled myself.

I started to get ready for bed when I got a weird feeling. My stomach dropped. I went to go check on my son to make sure he was okay.

When I opened his door there was a figure towering over him.

I quickly rushed over and as soon as my hands got on them I realized who it was.

"Katie you just scared me so fucking bad. Why didn't you say anything" I asked taking my hands off of her. "I tried to surprise you. I didn't meant to scare you I'm sorry. Were you about to push me" she asked chuckling.

"I just saw a shadow towering over him I thought you were a random person. So yes I was." "Go to the bedroom I'll be right behind you I just wanted to see him before I came to you because I saw the video you sent."

I silently nodded my head and went back to the bedroom. My heart was still pounding. I took a few deep breaths and settled down while I finished getting ready for bed.

I was laying down in bed when Katie finally came in.

"Sorry I had to lock the doors and stuff. Did I scare you real bad? I didn't mean to. I wanted to surprise you but I didn't even think that's probably not a good idea with a big kid in the house." "You're fine Katie. I just thought I was going to have to kill you for a second."

She climbed under the covers and moved to straddle my waist. My hands moved to her side and climbed up her body.

"I missed you" she said while rubbing my sides. "Yeah? I was getting really bored without you here." "Luckily we've wrapped up everything so I'm all done." "How do you feel about that? I know it's upsetting." "I'm happy. I get to be here with you guys now. I think it's going to be a little weird not seeing the cast and crew almost everyday now but I'm not that bothered by it."

"You deserve a break. You've been working a lot." "Well I have no projects right now. I was thinking we could all go on a trip."

"Really? You know Y/s/n is afraid of planes?" "I know" she sighed. "He's gonna have to get over it eventually though. We are going to be with him and we can give him sleep medicine. And if he's really not up for it we won't go anywhere that we have to fly out to." "I've never seen you so eager to want to go somewhere" I said as she giggled at my touch.

"I just want to get a way for a bit. I want to spend time with you guys without any distractions. Work has been a lot and I just want to not deal with any of it for a bit. And the place I was looking at has a kids section for him to be at so we can spend some time together."

"Hmm that does sound nice."
