I never really liked my family. I have two sisters and two brothers. At one point I did like my family. They used to be the best family ever. Until my parents thought it was a good idea for us to make some band. At first it was just a family thing and we weren't really good. Then they started taking it seriously.

They made us practice whenever we had free time they made me and one my sister go to vocal lessons and I hated it. I never wanted to make music. I was the only one to learn how play every instrument my parents wanted me to. So when I told them I didn't want to make music or anything they got really mad.

Long story short I went to actual college. Once I was done college a year later my family actually succeeded in making music. They took off and I was just in the shadows. My family got really famous and I was by myself nobody cared. Even my family stopped caring. We'd have family gatherings and all they would talk about is their band. So when they would happen I would usually just go to my room. So most of my time was spent in my room.

I created my own business and it was going really good. It was a really popular business. I started it all by myself too. That's actually where I met my girlfriend Katie.

We were really secretive about it. But the job wasn't for her so she quit and went into acting instead. I loved watching her act.

I proposed to her and she said yes. We started planning but it got complicated when we got to the invitations. Katie told me that I should invite my family but I couldn't.

"Y/n why can't you just invite them." "Katie you're not understanding, their is a reason you haven't met them yet." "I haven't met them because you don't like them. I get what they did was wrong but it's your wedding and you should have people that love you there with you." "They don't love me they only care about themselves." "That's not true you're their family, maybe they've changed."

"They haven't." "How would you know you haven't talked to them." "And I don't want to." "Ok. What if we just go down for the weekend and visit them. Then I can meet your family properly, since we are getting married and if you don't like how they are then you don't have to invite them." "Fine. Only for the weekend."

We went down for the weekend and as soon as we got to the house I didn't know what to do.

They had security and expensive cars and the house was huge. It was nothing compared to what we used to live in and what I live in now.

We stepped out the car and went up to the door and knocked.

"Sweetie you made it, it's been a while. And who's this." She said after giving me a hug and looking at Katie. "Her name is Katie I'll explain who she is later. Is everyone here or no." "No. Your dad, Miles, and Jazmine are out getting dinner but Jaylind and Maya are here." "Ok. Can me and Katie go take a nap we are tired from the drive." "Sure I'll show you to the guest room and I'll send one of your sisters up to come get you when it's time to eat." She said as she let us in. "Ok."

Me and Katie went up to the room and took a quick nap. A little while later Jasmine came and woke us up.

"Y/n. Y/n wake up." She said shaking me a little. "What do you want Jasmine." I said while opening my eyes. "Dinner is downstairs." "Ok."

Instead of leaving she stood there for a while looking at how close me and Katie were. Then she saw the ring.

"Y/n don't tell me that, that is an engagement ring. You're always making big decisions you'll regret." "It's whatever you believe it is jasmine now get out." "I'm telling mom and dad." "Jasmine fuck off you're twenty seven and you're still telling on people. You know nobody likes a snitch." "Whatever get up before I send Miles." "Fine." "And get your little friend up too." "Obviously I wasn't just going to leave her there alone while you idiots are in the house." "You have five minutes." She said before she walked out.

I woke Katie up and we went downstairs to eat. After dinner is when I decided to tell everybody.

"I guess you're all wondering who I've brought over. All I'm telling you is that her name is Katie and I'm marrying her, we're engaged." I said once it was quiet. "Y/n I haven't seen you in fifteen years and you just come back engaged. What if she's not good enough for you." My mom said. "What if she's just using you for money." My dad said. "We know nothing about her. How can you all of the sudden be marrying her." Jaylind said.

"Did you really have to say that while she is right here. And you don't get to decide whose right for me or if someone is using me for money. None of you do. You all left me in the shadows and forgot about me just because I didn't want to do the same thing as all of you. So I get to decide who is right for me. And I get to decide who is and isn't using me for money. Katie is the one for me and all of your dumb comments aren't going to change that. And I'm not marrying her all of the sudden we've been dating for five years."

"So you've been dating for five years and we haven't even met her yet." Maya said. "Yes I'm an adult I don't need your permission." "You could've called and told us or something." Miles said.

Miles was the only one I liked. He always checked up on me.

"I've tried to reconnect with this family for over five years and you all just forget about me so no I wasn't going to call. None of you deserved to know. Only Miles did. I wasn't even going to tell you. Katie is the one that told me to come here I knew it was going to be a mistake." After I said that I grabbed Katie's hand and we went back up to the room.

We were to tired to drive back home so we went to sleep and left in the morning.

"Do you see why I'm not inviting them now." I said once we got home. "I guess." "I'm sorry for the whole thing." "No I should've listened to you. I love you." "I love you too."
