When I first met Y/n I could tell she didn't understand anything I was saying. She wasn't from this planet and she had to learn literally everything. I devoted most of my time to teaching her about this world. She took an interest in me and something about her fascinated me. She was beautiful and I loved the heavy accent she had while learning English.

It wasn't long before we got together. She was pretty much fluent in English by now and knew a lot about things but she struggled with the expressions of things.

She couldn't tell if you were messing with her or being serious when you said something.

Like the one time I told her I was dying at something Kara sent me.

In under ten minutes she barged into my apartment with a very concerned face.

I jumped in surprise at her actions.

"What's wrong" I asked. "You said you were dying." "Oh Y/n I wasn't being serious. I wasn't going to actually die from what Kara sent me" I chuckled. She made an O with her mouth and looked down at the ground.

"Just stay since you're here. I missed you." She pouted and got in the bed with me. "It's okay Y/n you don't need to beat yourself up about it." "The language here is just so confusing." "I know. I wish I could make it easier on you but I like the way you talk and think."

One of the funniest instances was when I told her how I felt about her.

We had been spending a lot of time together and she just made me feel so giddy.

She would stare at me for what felt like hours.

"What" I asked staring back at her. "You're the most beautiful woman I've ever met. I've never seen anybody, even on my home planet, as beautiful as you." I blushed looking down at the ground.

"Why do you do that?" "Do what?" "I don't know the right word for it. You always look down whenever I tell you something I like about you." I shrugged not looking at her. "I really like you Y/n. In a romantic way."

"I like you too. You make me feel something. Right here" she spoke as she grabbed my hand and put it on her stomach. "It only happens when I'm around you. Or when I look at you" she continued.

"You have butterflies in your stomach" I laughed. "No? Do humans get that? How do they get there?" "No it's an expression. You're nervous, but it's a good nervous." "Yeah. That sounds right." "I get the same feeling when I'm around you" I said with a smile.

Y/n didn't understand things fairly often. I always thought it was cute. She gets frustrated but she doesn't understand how fast she's actually learned everything.

I loved how she talked. I loved how slow she said things to pronounce it correctly. I loved how she struggled to find the right words sometimes.

But I really loved how she went out of her way to learn things.

Y/n had surprised me with a trip. She didn't say where we were going she just told me to pack.

She somehow knew how to keep me distracted. The whole car ride she made me catch up on some work as she talked about some things.

Y/n had planned a perfect trip. I could tell she was nervous when we got here. She's been nervous the whole trip. But I understood why. She hasn't really been anywhere else on Earth besides where we're from. She hasn't ever planned a big trip like this so I was proud of her. But I wish I could make her feel less nervous.

We had been out all day and we finally got back to our room.

She opened the door for me and as we walked in I gasped.

There was a very romantic set up. There were candles lit, petals, and a very sweet smell in the air. I couldn't describe it. It looked like something out of a movie. But it certainly didn't look like anything I deserved.

"What's this" I questioned turning to her.

"I still have a lot to learn but I love you. When I first heard someone say that it was Alex saying it to her girlfriend. I was stuck on what that meant. I was confused because I thought that was something you could only feel for your family. But then I found out there was two ways you can love people. I looked it up and I asked her and they both described what I felt for you. I've never been in love with a person. On my planet we called it 'Lunara'."

I took in everything she said. I liked how her accent got more heavy towards the end.

"I love you too Y/n. But we say 'I love you' to each other every day" I chuckled. "Yes I know" she said fidgeting with her hands.

I grabbed her hands taking them in mine. "Calm down. Why are you so worked up?" "This is all so strange to me. I've never done this before." "It's okay. I appreciate what you've done for me. This was a lovely trip. I've never had anyone do this for me before."

"Lena I really love you. And I had a whole thing to say but I can't remember it. I'm sure this isn't how you've dreamed of this happening but I wanted to try. And I'm happy to do this over so it's more like something you had in mind" she paused looking into my eyes. "Lena will you marry me? I already spend my time with you so I thought it wouldn't be much of a difference" she said as she pulled a ring out of her pocket. It looked like a weight had been lifted off her shoulder.

My eyes started to tear up. "This isn't how I planned it y/n. I never planned someone proposing to me because I never thought it would happen. Of course I will marry you. Is this what made you so nervous?" "I was more scared to ask you that then when I landed on this planet. I had to look up a lot of stuff and ask Alex a lot of questions so I could try and get this right. I didn't even know this was a thing. We don't have this type of stuff on my planet. We just stay with that person forever."

My heart melted at that. I remember when she used to stay up all night on her phone. I never would've guessed that was the type of stuff she was looking up.

I wiped the tears off my face and put the ring on. It was beautiful. The ring was made out of something I've never seen before though.

"What's this made out of? I've never seen this. It's stunning" I said in awe. "I melted down two of the rings I had from my home planet. I realized that it was made out of a metal you guys don't have here." "Why would you do that? I know how much that stuff means to you."

When she first got here I couldn't even touch anything that she had from the planet.

"They said the ring should be special. I know you're not from there but I thought it would be something different. I did not know if it was going to be a good thing to do but Alex said it was a good idea." "I love it. I love you."

"I love you so much Lena. I will thank you and love you for as long as I live. You are the only person that was nice to me when I got here. Thank you for everything you've done for me." "Y/n I cherish you so much. You're the only one that's shown me real love. I love you and I can't wait to get married."
