I wonder what this could be bout 🤔

George POV.

I laid on the bed staring at the ceiling. After my failed escape attempt Karl and I had retreated to my bedroom and just hid in there. The two demons checked on us occasionally to make sure we didn't try and escape again, but other than that they left us alone until dinner. Then we ate spaghetti bolognese while watching an episode of some strange demon TV show.

Now it was past midnight, I had been so tired after running and hiding in the forest. My eyes could barely stay open since after I'd eaten, the blond demon talked me into having a bath to clean off all the dirt and sweat from when we'd tried to escape. He made me a hot chocolate, something I hadn't had since I was eight, and then he gave me warm clothes to wear.

Eventually I ended up curled up in the middle of the bed, still not used to having all of this room to myself after years of sharing a small bed with Karl. I wondered how he was doing right now on the other side of the house. Was he awake at night thinking about me? Was he used to all his new bedspace? Or was he already adjusted to all this new room.

I closed my eyes, thinking that sleep would come easier if I imagined I was back in the cabin instead of in this strange demon house. For hours I tossed and turned on my bed while trying to find a way to be comfortable so far away from any body heat. It was difficult, but I eventually managed to drift into a restless sleep.

In George's dream

"I told you we'd get out of there!" I screamed happily at Karl as I grabbed his arm tightly. We stumbled before collapsing on the forest floor. "Those demons won't be able to find us now! We're free!" Karl grinned at me before pulling me into a hug.
"We can go back to our own lives George." He happily told me.

The two of us stood up and continued with a walk, now just wanting to try and put as much distance between ourselves and the two creatures which had been holding us captive. The forest was quiet, not a sound could be heard and there wasn't much to be seen beside the trees stretching on forever either.

For several hours we continued, when the sky suddenly darkened. Instead of a sun filled cloudless sky, it had gone pitch black. There were no stars, or moon, or even any clouds. It was just blackness, covering the forest like a blanket. Now that I could barely see in front of me, the silence Karl and I had gotten used to, erupted into foreign sounds.

They sent shivers down my spine and I looked over at where Karl had been standing to try and see what he was thinking, but much to my worry he was gone. "Karl?" I asked, looking around to see if he'd moved somewhere else. Then I got louder and called out into the distance. "Karl! Where are you!?"

Nobody responded. Any sound which I had made was enveloped by the other sounds of the night. Being all alone put me even more on edge, my breathing began to pick up and my eyes darted in every direction out of fear that something would try and grab me. The trees loomed overhead almost as if they would try and grab me with their finger-like branches.

"George!" I heard the wind snarl out, a kind of threat. Even though there was nothing to see besides trees, and nothing to make any light, shadows grew and danced along the ground, approaching me as though they were about to grab me. Suddenly a creature loomed out from between the trees.

It lurched along the floor with long claws and a jutting frame. The creature's entire body was a dark black colour, covered in scales. All that was different was the creature's face which was white and round, almost like a mask. Its eyes were like two pools of darkness which felt like they drilled through my soul. The creature also had a set of jaws with sharp teeth.

Both myself and the creature stared at each other. Neither of us moved as it sized me up and seemingly figured out what it should do with me. Based on the teeth, the claws, and the vicious gaze I knew it would likely want to kill me. Perhaps if I stayed still then it would think I was something else, like a tree, then it would move on.

The creature lowered itself to the ground and let out a loud growl before it launched itself at me and sunk its teeth into my arm before I had the chance to react. I let out a loud screech as it's teeth bit down on bone before I kicked it off of me. "Get away!" I screamed at the thing as I stood up and began sprinting off.

My arm began leaking a stream of blood and I began to feel woozy as I lost more and more blood. As I stumbled down the path I bumped against trees and branches sticking out, creating even more cuts and grazes. Thundering footsteps which belonged to the creature began echoing through my head as it got closer.

Just as I was about to give up and let my fate take hold I saw a figure ahead of me holding some sort of weapon and my face lit up. This could be a chance to escape! Perhaps the person with the weapon would be able to help me if I could just reach him. A new surge of energy ran through me as I began speeding up, calling out to the person closest to me.

His gaze looked over in my direction and he began running towards me which made a grin grow on my face. This was it! I was going to get out of this forest alive! Just as I was about to reach the person something collided with my chest causing me to fall down to the floor. My hand moved to clutch my waist and another stream of blood began pooling around me.

"What... what the-" I could barely make out any words as I looked back up at the figure. In turn the man glared down at me before a smile grew on his face. As I stared up at it, eyes wide and lips quivering I recognised him. "D-Dad!"
"Shut up George." He growled at me as the creature circled around us. "You're pathetic!"

Before I could respond he kicked me in the face. "You are the reason for everything bad happening to my family. All these stupid creatures that tore our lives apart was your fault, you stupid piece of shit!" He spat as blood poured from my nose, mixing with the blood from my arm and my chest.

"I am part of your family!" I responded, my hand covering my nose to try and catch any blood that I could. "You threw me out when I was ten years old because you hated me!"
"Because you were a worthless son!" His eyes were practically red with rage as he seethed. "Why have you survived so damn long!?"

Before I could answer his gaze shifted over to the creature. "Kill him." And following his command, the black monster jumped at me, jaws wide enough to engulf my entire face and rip it clean off.

Another scream fell from my lips before the door was flung open and the light was turned on. "George, are you okay?" The blond demon was beside me in an instant, crouching beside the bed as I sobbed. I couldn't bring myself to answer as tears poured down my face, my hands wrapped around my waist where the weapon had struck me in my nightmare.

Dream climbed onto the bed without saying anything and pulled me into a hug as I shook in fear from my nightmare. He pressed me head to my chest and rocked me like a child. "Calm down." He hushed. "You're okay, right?" I didn't respond, only letting out a few more sniffles. "Go back to sleep alright. I'll stay here until you do."

"What's going on?" Sapnap asked, having appeared in the doorway. "I could hear his screams from the other end of the house, I think he woke Karl up too." As he said that I realised just how much my throat hurt, must have been from screaming in my sleep. As I stared at the other demon with tired eyes, the one sitting beside me began stroking my hair to lull me to sleep.

"He must've had a nightmare." Dream explained. "He should hopefully be alright now though, you can head back to your room, I'm going to stay here and look after him."
Sapnap nodded. "Do you want me to turn the light off?" The ravenette questioned. Dream nodded and so Sapnap turned the light off, plunging the room into darkness before leaving.

I could see Dream's glowing eyes, but I was too tired to react and try and move away as the blond continued to brush his fingers through my hair. "Just go to sleep." He told me in a soft voice. "I'll stay here the whole time."
