Dream POV.

“You want to watch a movie? I thought George would be interested in it, but he wasn’t.”
“Sure.” He moved to the couch with me. “What do you want to watch?”
The two of us moved to sit down at the couch and began talking as I set up the movie, however after a few minutes I heard screaming coming from upstairs.

Immediately both of us recognised it as George. Sapnap looked over at me with a worryful expression on his face and I turned to hurry upstairs. Although the way that George yelled earlier did annoy me, I knew that I couldn’t hold it against him. Good owners don’t hate their pets for lashing out.

That didn’t matter for now, instead I needed to figure out why he was screaming and crying and comfort him. “George?” I called as I hurried up the stairs. “Are you alright?” There was no response from the brunette and so I ran into his bedroom.

Curled up in the corner sobbing was the brunette. My gaze softened and I slowly approached him. “Hey,” I hummed softly. “Are you okay?” I noticed the way he was shaking with his eyes darting around the room. “Georgie?” I figured that maybe the human might like the nickname and it may comfort him.

He didn’t respond, instead curling into himself further. I stayed just a few feet away, feeling conflicted about what I should do. The last few times that I had tried to initiate contact he yelled at me. But seeing him here was so upsetting. I pulled him into a hug and felt him relaxing into my touch.

“You’re alright.” I soothed, nuzzling into the side of his face. “Don’t worry.” I comforted him. “You are safe, I won’t let anything happen to you.” He, without a word, began cuddling back into me with quiet sniffles. The fact that he was finally accepting my touch was enough to make me want to just hold him and squeeze him forever.

“What happened?” I questioned. “Is it something that I can help with?” My voice remained soft while I continued to nuzzle into him. A small whimper fell from his lip as he cuddled into me, muttering something about a bad dream.

“Don’t worry.” I hummed, hugging his waist. “You are alright.” Then I stood up, lifting the small human in my arms. “How about I tell you about that movie I wanted to watch.” He gave a small nod into the crook of my neck. I looked down into his pretty brown eyes which were wide and full of tears.

I carried him downstairs, feeling concerned about what his nightmare could have possibly been about. He seemed completely stressed. It was heartbreaking to see. I carried his limp body downstairs before sitting down on the couch, keeping his body close to mine in order to provide physical contact.

Bad had told me not to get too touchy with our humans in the first few weeks, but at this point of time it seemed like he needed contact. My shirt was growing damp from his tears as he whimpered softly against me.

Sapnap had moved off of the couch well before I came back down the stairs, but I noticed him shuffling out of the corner of my eyes. He didn’t matter though. I instead adjusted my position on the couch with the brunette laying on top of me. George’s face was buried in the crook of my neck as he laid on top of me, his eyes screwed shut tightly.

Having him in such a vulnerable position on top of me was enough to send all of my overprotective demon instincts into overdrive. I wasn’t exactly sure why he was so upset, or what his dream was about, but at the moment I didn’t care. All that mattered was keeping him close to me.

George POV.

My body was aflame from the pain. It felt like all of my nerves were on fire and I couldn’t get them to cool down. Hot tears were rolling down my cheek, making me even more miserable as I tried not to cry loudly. I bit my lips to try and silence the sobs but all that it resulted in was my lips turning red and indents growing from the bites.

Today I had not been fortunate enough to wake up before being attacked by that lurking creature. It managed to get to me, tearing me apart while I just laid there, unable to move. It had torn my body to shreds, leaving me to wake up with a shiver and pain filled cry.

Unfortunately the blond demon came looking for me, finding me curled up in the corner of the bedroom, my muscles tensed up and my face was all red and blotchy. He asked me some questions and said stuff to me which I couldn’t understand before picking me up. I didn’t want him to, however I was too weak and stressed to resist.

I muttered something to him, telling him that I had a nightmare but I wanted to go back to bed but he didn’t listen. Either he didn’t hear me or he intentionally ignored me (I suspected it was the second thing since he was a cruel demon).

Dream carried me down the stairs before settling on the couch with me on his lap. Exhaustion had already begun to overwhelm me and I had to admit that Dream was quite warm. A near-silent yawn fell from my lips before I laid my head down in the crook of his neck. The demon seemed more than happy with my actions and readjusted us so we were laying down.

It was a strange feeling, but it did stop my sobbing as laying on this baby-eating monster was somehow more comfortable than my bed. He just held me gently, with my head in the crook of his neck and his hands holding my waist snugly. A rumbling purr was present from somewhere nearby and it was enough to lull me back into a peaceful, relaxed sleep.
