Karl POV.

Dream never appeared downstairs, and Techno never came back down after going up to see Dream a few minutes ago. George was clearly annoyed and slightly disappointed about the fact that Dream never appeared, but he sighed softly and looked over at Philza, saying that he was ready to go.

“Are you sure that you are wanting to go without him?” Sapnap asked George. “I can go and yell at him to tell him to get up if you want.”
“It’s fine.” The brunette replied. “He’s probably hanging out with Technoblade. Let’s just go and you could message him so that he knows where we are.”

Reluctantly the two demons agreed as I finished organising all of the food in the picnic basket which we had found in the back of a closet. I didn’t say anything as I passed it over for Sapnap to carry since it was somewhat heavy and I was already carrying a book.

Despite how heavy it was, the ravenette was able to hold it with one hand as he texted both Dream and Technoblade to tell both of the demons that we were going to have a picnic and read in the woods. Once that was done he smiled over at us all and said he was ready to go.

The morning was quite calm and I walked through the forest with the group. I was absorbing all of the sounds and smells and sights, all of which had the familiar feeling of home, after years of living out here. From beside me George seemed to be happy to be back out here as well and even the two demons were admiring the beauty.

Eventually we found a space which looked nice for the four of us to sit down. The sun sliced through the canopy all around it, but left this particular spot in a patch of shade under two especially large trees. It was far enough from the river that you couldn’t even hear the water, something which seemed to calm George.

All four of us settled down after Philza spread out a pale blue blanket. Sapnap sat against a tree trunk with me leaning against him. Philza sat cross-legged opposite myself and the wrath demon, and George anxiously sat to my left. George, Phil, and I were all sitting with the books, but before we started reading Philza opened a bag of chips for us to snack on.

“So what have you guys thought of the book so far?” Philza started by asking, looking from one of us to the other as he waited for an answer.
“I really like it.” George said first. “I read it again after you left and then I told Dream all about it.”
“And I did too.” I added on. “Sapnap is probably over Percy Jackson.”

“No, I love it. If my perfect pet human loves it then I do too.” Sapnap said, causing me to roll my eyes. It was common for both him and Dream to only like stuff because their human pets, myself and George, liked them too. As I turned to glance at him though he pulled me into a kiss, telling me to ‘stop with that pouty expression’.

After giving the pair of us a minute to cuddle and giggle and grin with one another Philza spoke up again. “Is there anything that either of you two were confused about from the book? Or wanted to read over again?” Both of us glanced over at one another and there was a shake of the head.

“That’s great.” He smiled. “We’ve read five chapters and so if we read six or seven today then we’ll be halfway through the book. It’s a lot more progress than I would have thought. If we keep this up then we’ll be done with the book by the weekend and you can have that time to relax, just like a real school.”

Both George and I smiled at that. After over a decade of not reading anything, the thought of being able to read again, and read a novel in less than a week, surprised us.
“And you are fine with coming everyday?” Sapnap asked. “Don’t you want a break?”

“No. it’s perfectly fine. I am more than happy to come around the house daily. I remember teaching Tubbo all of this stuff since he wasn’t able to go to school either. It was quite fun and I’m more than happy to do that again.” He grinned happily at the memory of whoever this Tubbo person was, but it did seem like whoever they were, Sapnap knew them.

“Will Techno come everyday too?” George asked, not seeming entirely happy or excited about the thought of seeing the pink haired wrath demon daily.
“Well if he wants to.” Phil shrugged. “He gets on well with both Dream and Sapnap. Plus with the school holidays he doesn’t want to be stuck around the house with my kids.”

“Who’s Tubbo?” I asked after a few moments, whispering the question quietly to Sapnap. Even though it was meant to be whispered to him it was clear that Philza had heard me.
“Tubbo is Philza’s human.” Sapnap explained. “He adopted him a few years ago and raised him alongside his own kids. Like Techno, Techno is Tubbo’s older brother.”

I nodded at the explanation, George nodded too and Philza smiled. “You are both older than Tubbo is though, so this should be a lot easier.” Sapnap nodded in agreement.
“Why couldn’t Tubbo go to school then?” George asked, catching the attention of both Sapnap and Philza.

He looked expectantly from one to another and they both seemed extremely awkward about the situation. Eventually Sapnap was the one to speak up, talking in a soothing voice to both me and George. “Well, humans aren’t allowed to go to schools.” Sapnap explained. “There are rules against it.”

“Rules against it?” George repeated, furrowing his brows as he said that. “Why?”
“It’s complicated.” Sapnap replied. “I’m not sure how exactly I should explain it.” He glanced over at Philza who began talking about the plans for teaching us again.

“After we finish these books then what do you want to learn?” He asked us, grinning with his bright blue eyes glowing. “I could teach you some maths, or geography, or history, or health. I can do anything really.” Both us nodded thankfully at him, even though we were both still annoyed and on edge after our last conversation.

“Could you teach them how to do our taxes?” Sapnap asked jokingly, earning a laugh from Philza before I lightly whacked him.
“Why do we have to learn how to do taxes when we don’t earn any money?” I asked him, and he furrowed up his brows for a moment.

“That’s a fair point.” He agreed.”Philza, can you teach them how to earn money?” I whacked him again before settling back down. I grumbled as I grabbed the book and Philza smiled.
“We’ll figure it out later.” The pride demon told all three of us. “Anyway, how about we start chapter six?”

Both George and I nodded. “So Chapter Six is called ‘I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom’.” Philza told us, causing both of us to giggle since we never matured past the age of toilet humour. The two demons couldn’t help but laugh along with us and after we’d calmed down Philza asked, ‘So who wants to read the first part of this chapter?’
