Dream POV.

Tears pricked at my eyes as I stumbled hopelessly through the forest. For hours I had been trying to find George, but I wasn’t able to. After all that we had been through together, had he really run away? Was he really wanting to leave after everything that I had done to make sure that he was safe?

Despite any of these fears and worries that I had, I still continued to press on, looking for my beloved human. I really hoped that he was okay, since every time he had run off he’d ended up injured or even more traumatised than he already was. Like when he had a panic attack by the river, or was attacked by the two other demons.

All that I really wanted to do was make sure that he was alright. Since after everything we had been through I cared for him, wanting nothing more than to make sure he was safe. A small whimper fell from my lips as I looked around.

For the past few hours I had been following the faint scent of the human, however it was so faint that I could barely smell it now. Whichever path he had chosen to go, it had been walked along by many animals and now I could barely follow him. Plus this was an area of the forest he had been lots in the past, so it was even more difficult.

“George!” I tried calling out again, looking towards the sky as I screamed his name out desperately. “Please where are you! I am worried!” I continued to whimper worriedly, hoping nothing more than to find my beloved pet and take him back home where it was warm and safe and he would be able to eat something, since he hadn’t eaten since breakfast.

Suddenly my phone began ringing. I stopped walking for a few moments as I answered it. For some dumb reason I was hopeful that it was about George, even letting a small, hopeful smile appear on my face as I answered. “Hello?” I asked, continuing to grin.
“Dream,” Techno responded. “How are you feeling?”

I ignored the question, instead asking one back. “Has George come back to the house?” I knew that Techno and Philza were hanging around the house, waiting for me and/or George to return.
“Not yet.” The pink haired demon replied. “Sapnap’s human is absolutely distraught though.”

A wavy of pity ran through me directed towards Karl. He was just as connected to George as I was, if not even more so. I could only imagine how George leaving without him must have ripped him apart inside. “Sapnap said he wanted to go and help you look, but couldn’t and so they went to bed.” I nodded in understanding, even though I knew he couldn’t see me.

“You don’t have to hang around waiting.” I told Techno weakly after a moment of silence. As I spoke my gaze moved around the bushes, trying to see if I might be able to spot my human somewhere nearby. “If he hasn’t come back on his own yet then I doubt he’ll come back on his own any time soon.” It hurt to say but it was the truth.

“There is no point in making you wait around. You and Philza probably both want to get back home and go to sleep and eat or something.”
“Nonsense.” Techno responded. “George may think I am going to eat him but I won’t. I’ve already helped myself to that ice cream you had in your freezer.”

“We had ice cream in the freezer?” I asked, since I did not remember buying ice cream the last time I went to the grocery store, and I don’t think that I had eaten any ice cream in months either. I huffed out in frustration but ignored it. Instead I smiled weakly. “Thanks for sticking around Techno. Feel free to leave whenever you want.”

Then I hung up and went back to looking for George and calling out his name. There was no response. “George?! George please?! Where are you?!” I cried out, tears pricking in my eyes and rolling down my cheek. When there was no response I sighed softly. “Where are you?” I whispered. “Why did you go?

Once again there was no answer, not that I was expecting anything else. I just sighed and let out a whimper. “I just want to make sure you are okay,” I whispered to the wind, hoping that somehow it could carry my message to the brunette.

George POV.

My father was muttering his plans to himself. They were the plans about what we would do, about where we would go, about how he would stop me from having my ‘disgusting demon obsession’. None of them I liked the idea of very much.

He talked about how we would leave the moment I woke up and so I decided to pretend to be asleep for as long as possible. The only issue with that was my injured leg which was constantly in pain. My body was tempting me to touch it, out of a morbid curiosity and as a way of seeing if touch could somehow magically heal my wounds.

I resisted though, instead keeping my pain and my cries to myself as I curled up with my back to my father. To distract myself from this pain I took long deep breaths and tried to time them out. I also just thought about Dream and what it would be like if and when I was back with him.

All sorts of ideas like watching movies, and eating pizza, and going into town were running through my mind. My eyes opened in a slight slither and I saw my father walking away for a moment, not noticing me as he continued to mutter to himself. Part of me considered making a run for it now, even with my injured leg I could have the chance to hide from him.

Before I planned anything I heard a voice, echoing from through the forest. “George?!” The voice called out. “George please?! Where are you?!” It was Dream. He was coming to find me, and he was really close by. I tried lifting myself up, planning on calling out to him but before a word could come from my throat my father had returned to me.

“If you even think about making a sound I will kill you.” He told me, pressing the knife against my throat. I whimpered and shrunk back, nodding to him as tears pricked at my eyes. He was so close by, just a single noise would let Dream know that I was here, but I didn’t want to get hurt so I sniffled.

After a minute of both myself and my father listening tensely, Dream called out to me again, with his voice a lot further away. I cried quietly. My leg was still incredibly painful and there had been a chance I would have been found but I missed it. When Dream was gone my father glared at me.

“It seems like you’re awake.” He stated. “And we should get out of here before there is any chance for him to double back and find us.” My father took a step back, still holding the knife and I used the tree for support as I stood up. “Let’s move.” The man continued, leading me away.
