A shadow crossed his face. "Think of it as divine intervention."

"You don't even believe in God. None of us are religious."

He rolled his eyes, "Séraphine Marionette Rosier," Her heart stuttered, hearing her full name come from his lips, "You and Sebastian have adored each other since the day I introduced him to you and he kept leaving sugar quills on your desk-even though he was supposed to save the little allowance he received from Solomon for school supplies." He took a deep breath, "There's a lot going on in both of your lives and I don't want Anne's cure, your parents, Solomon, Catherine-the whole bloody wizarding world for that matter keeping you both apart. I want you both to be happy, but not at a cost."

"Ominis." Séraphine said in the most level voice she could manage, but she knew he could hear her smile. "You are quite literally about to be my fiancé. Aren't you keeping us apart?"

He snorted, unamused. "Bloody ridiculous. Wake me up when we get there."

Thirty minutes later, they landed and Ominis stepped out of the carriage. He held his right hand out to her, the other arm behind his back. "My closest friend's beloved, are you ready to get engaged?"

She took his hand, equally bemused as she looked up at the Victorian estate that she grew up in. "I'm not his beloved yet." Séraphine muttered, stepping down from the carriage. "And if he gets into any funny business with Catherine, he'll be lucky to be alive after this."

Ominis smirked. "Don't worry. I have a feeling his rendezvous with her will be cut short. Very short."

The obnoxious tapping on the crystal echoed loudly through the packed dining area. Séraphine's parents were dressed to perfection with her father in an elegant dark green suit and her mother in a floral greenery ballgown. Snake-like jewelry ensnared her wrists, matching her father's cufflinks; and furthermore exemplified how proud they were of their mostly Slytherin Household. It was also a nod to the likely engagement happening between Ominis and her, though numerous suitors were still trying to grab her attention.

"Thank you all for coming." Séraphine's father proclaimed, his wand pointed to his throat in order to amplify his voice. His long fair hair was tied back with a green ribbon whereas her mother's white blonde hair was in loose curls around her. "I am happy to announce that Séraphine has chosen her future husband."

Ominis smirked beside her. His voice was barely above a whisper. "Has he even spoken a word to you?"

"Of course he has." Séraphine muttered defensively, "He said to get out of his way earlier when the Headmaster arrived shortly behind us."

He bit back a grin, hiding it behind clearing his throat.

Séraphine watched as Ominis' father walked up to join her parents. His face was similar to Ominis', but more narrow and pointed. The blind wizard had his mother's softer features and freckles.

His father smiled at everyone, "The Gaunt Family and the Rosier Family will be joining together, Pure and strong. May Salazar Slytherin smile down on this happy union!"

"To Salazar Slytherin!" Numerous Purebloods raised their gauntlets to the family heads, downing Fire whiskey and wine. Séraphine and Ominis both hid their discontent well. They expected tonight to be unnecessary and irritating. They were right.
