Séraphine's smirk grew. "C'est la vérité." Her voice was cold, telling the witch Sebastian was speaking the truth. Moving into a combative stance, she continued, "I do enjoy the fact that you chose a snake for your animagus."

"Why's what?"

A dark laugh echoed in the halls as a figure walked into the foyer. He was tall, wearing Death Eater robes. His honey brown hair was slicked to the side and the few freckles on his face didn't make him appear boyish. Instead, they gave him a softness against his sharp jawline and the unquestionably outraged expression on his face. His eyes were clouded both with wrath and the inability to see.

"Because Eagles eat Snakes." Ominis informed her haughtily before swishing his wand in a dark spell that Séraphine recognized, "Pestis Incendium."

Everyone's eyes widened slightly at the sight of the fiery eagle exploding from Ominis' wand. The heat caused everyone to blanch briefly, but Ominis had it perfectly under control. It soared high into the air, letting out a fierce cry before flapping its wings in anticipation. It was enormous and commanded a presence while staring down at the witch.

Sebastian sounded breathlessly amazed and horrified at the same time.

"Fiendfyre."

Playing with Fire

The fiery eagle swooped down towards Catherine with a wordless command from Ominis. She ducked down, but that didn't stop the beast from raking its hooked claws across her back; setting her robe alight with fire.

She hissed in pain, chucking it off whilst looking at Ominis with hatred clear in her eyes. It was arguably even more so than how she looked at Séraphine.

"The agreement wasn't to duel you." She pointed out snidely, glancing at the Dark Lord for assistance.

This was an opportunity to turn the justice scale in her favor. Séraphine smiled at the Dark Lord even though it made her skin crawl. "Because you have no hopes of defeating Ominis in a duel when he's being half serious, you grovel at the Dark Lord to save you. How are you to be the Lord's snake and emblem if you can't even hold your own? Are you meant to protect him or embarrass him?"

"You shut up." She spoke through clenched teeth, "I thought you were loyal to rules."

Séraphine perked up, "Ah, so you only play by the rules when it's convenient for you?" Her eyes slid over graciously to where the Dark Lord stood still. "Is this the legacy you wish to leave? The greatest sorcerer in the world whose name wizards everywhere are afraid to speak, and yet you lead a group of followers who cannot even defend themselves?"

He was thinking hard about her words. With each passing second and under the eyes of all his followers, his rage grew. The only sound echoing in the room was the steady flapping of the fiery eagle above their heads that was still eyeing Catherine.

"I confess myself disappointed." The Dark Lord remarked, "More so than in the Graveyard earlier this year. You have given me much to think about, young witch. For now, dinner is over. Another meeting will be called soon. You'll feel the mark begin to burn." He added this for Sebastian's sake who was glaring him down. It brought a smile to his face, "Such an intense gaze. It matters not. You'll either learn to kneel or be dead soon."

The Dark Lord Apparated away in a cloud of smoke that left the Manor. Once he was gone, little more was said before everyone else left except for the Malfoys remained.
