"If it means anything... I'm glad you ignored what I said back at the Quidditch Field." He mused in low voice.
Séraphine raised an eyebrow, "I tend to ignore a lot of things you say. Can you be more specific?"
"About staying at Hogwarts." He clarified, raising his head to look at her with a wry grin. "I never want you to leave my side."
She snorted inwardly. "We travelled 105 years in the future together, I think it's safe to say, I'd go anywhere with you 'Bastien."
He nodded, surprising her with a soft kiss against her lips. His lips were soft against hers and as they slipped down to trail along her jaw line.
"Darling, we have likely spent thousands of years with each other. In the previous life, in the next one, and in this one... I'd choose you every time. You and I have always been meant for each other."
Séraphine made a mental correction about certainties in life. She was absolutely certain that she loved Sebastian. And he loved her.
One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
They arrived back at Hogwarts with Ominis waiting out in the gardens for them. He had a heating charm to keep himself warm and at the sound of their footsteps; his head cocked to the side.
"Did you..." He left the sentence hanging.
Sebastian had regained his composure. Mostly. It took a few more minutes of kissing. "See my dead sister's house? We did."
Ominis blinked, caught off guard by the blunt words. "And?"
"And she would have died in November. Her last letter was goodbye." Sebastian squeezed her hand a bit. "Solomon left in late October. No longer wanting to deal with a sick witch."
The other wizard let loose a string of curse words about the ex-Auror. A few even put a smile on Sebastian's face. "The Headmaster would like for us to meet him in the office. He said you both had gone on an adventure and would be back soon. At least he hoped it would be soon."
Curiosity bloomed inside her. "Résolution... Perhaps he has answers about what happened."
"He can send us back."
Sebastian walked faster as the words escaped his lips. When her hand slipped from his because she had to almost jog to keep up with him, he finally slowed if only to keep holding her hand.
It was an odd feeling for her. To recognize the halls, yet unfamiliar to her. It was only hours ago that she was showering because Amortentia had been spilt on her. Hours since the bataille in the Scriptorium.
Albus Dumbledore had the staircase waiting for them and was standing near his desk, casually petting a Phoenix when they walked in.
"Ouah!" An exclamation of surprise flew out. "You have a Phoenix? What do you know about their tears?"
The elder Headmaster regarded her, "What an interesting question. What do you know about their tears?"
"Phoenixes themselves cannot be harmed by any of the Unforgivable Curses." Séraphine pointed out, squinting her eyes slightly in concentration. "I was interested if the tears would be able to do away with that-to reverse the effects of malignant magic."
