I finished my last exam of the semester and walked out straight to my car. This had been routine for the past two months. Go to school and come back home. I did meet my friends and everything was normal. Except I wasn't talking to them a lot. It was either for school or just to catch up.
I walked to my car to see Asher standing there with Christian and Blake. Our eyes met and I looked at him blankly before walking to my car. Just as I was about to pass them Blake stopped me. "Kiara?" he asked. I stopped looking at him. Asher had not had the privilege to listen to my voice for two months. After that day in the hospital, I left. I left, trying to get over the fact. And I did at some point.
But Asher? He didn't make any effort to contact me. He ghosted me for a few weeks and then when he finally showed up at school he was distant.
I raised my eyebrows at Blake waiting for him to continue what he was going to say. "Please talk to us," he said his voice hurt. I felt bad for ignoring him and I just wanted Asher's comfort. Was that too much to ask?
"What do you want to talk about?" I said my voice sounding different than it did a few months ago. It was softer and harsher. Everybody looked at me shocked not expecting me to. Asher looked at me and came forward. "Can I talk to you?" he asked his voice was so unfamiliar to me now.
I nodded at his request. "Can we go to my house?" he asked. I looked at him shocked but nodded anyway. "Umm, do you want to take your car or mine?" he asked again. I looked at my car and he nodded understanding. I walked to it and drove to his house.
A million thoughts running in my head. What was I doing? Was this worth it? What if he tells me something I can't handle? These two months were torcher for me and I didn't want to go through any of this again. What did he want to talk about? I pulled the car inside his house.
To Sister-in-Law: I'm going over to Asher's
I immediately received a reply.
Sister-in-Law: Talk it out Kiara, It might help.
To Sister-in-Law: What if everything goes down the drain?
Sister-in-Law: It almost already has. If he doesn't make it with you, I will hunt him down and kill him.
To Sister-in-Law: Yeah, like you can.
Sister-in-law: Kiss already!
To Sister-in-Law: Shut up!
Sister-in-law: Let me know how it goes. Don't worry I think he knows what he is doing.
To Sister-in-Law: I hope so.
I switched off my phone and got out of the car as theirs pulled in behind me. I slowly got out of mine and he walked toward me. We all walked in and he guided me to his room. It felt so different coming here now. I sat down on his desk chair and he sat down on the bed. I looked at him but he just stared at his shoes.
