I kept my arms crossed as I watched Ace Attack White Beard, again. This is getting ridiculous. He's just playing with Ace. I glanced at Izo as he leaned against the railing next to me.
"Your brother is stubborn." Izo said, flinching when Ace was thrown through the door.
I flinched, as I heard him yelp as he tumbled down the stairs. I could hear a few people telling him he should give up; he's never going to beat Pops.
"We're not siblings, childhood friends...he has something he wants to accomplish...why does everyone call him Pops?" I asked, looking over to him.
"Because that's what he is. We're a big family. Everyone on board is my brother, or sister. You and Ace included." Izo said, smiling as he looked at me.
"I don't have family. I don't want one either." I looked away from him and at Ace as he came back on board.
Instead of going back to attacking Whitebeard, he came over to me and plopped his head on my shoulder. His eyes shutting as he fell asleep. I wrapped my arm around his shoulder, moving him so his face was in the crook of my neck. I'll always protect him. I glared at everyone on deck - except Izo. With after what he said, I knew he wouldn't hurt Ace. I'm sure nobody on this ship would. But...I can't bring myself to trust any of them. But...it seems like Ace does.
....
I smiled as Ace showed off his back tattoo, I was tired. I stayed out of the fights while on board, since I wasn't a part of the crew, but now that Ace has officially joined. I don't know what I'm going to do. I won't be able to fight alongside them, I don't know if I can handle not fighting for much longer. Or being stuck as a Phoenix.
"Have you decided what you're going to do-Yoi?" Marco asked, walking over to me with his hands in his pockets.
"I can't stay here. I don't think I can last longer without -...I'll leave in a few days." I said, looking over to where Ace was.
"Fighting? Ace told us you need an outlet. Why not try a few things first? You can cook with us!" Thatch said, dropping his arm around my shoulder, coming out of nowhere.
"I'm stronger than him. He tell you that?" I asked, looking up at Thatch.
"He may have mentioned you being a bad ass fighter, -Yoi," Marco said,
"Doesn't change the rules," I said, leaning back against the railing.
"No... visit lots?" Thatch raised an eyebrow,
"If I feel like it," I smirked at him,
"Hey (Y/n)! Ya don't need to stick around for me!" Ace hollered, as he held someone in a head lock. A big grin on his face.
I smiled softly and nodded. I moved forward, stopping in front of Whitebeard, I turned my arms into wings, and I floated in front of him, so I was face to face with him.
"Anything happens to him; I'm coming for your head." I smirked, before taking off and fully changing into a red phoenix.
Time to go hunting.
~~~~
I'm almost there. I'm almost their Ace! I pushed my wings harder as I could see them in the distance, it was stormy out. It made it more difficult to fly through, but I made it. I landed on the deck with a thud, shifting back.
"Where is he?" I asked, as I looked at the person on watch.
"He doesn't have long. Come on." Izo said softly, from the door of the cabin.
I followed after him, Ace was sitting beside his bed. He didn't look up, even when I called out to him. I looked down at Thatch, his pulse was barely there. The machine attached to him was the only thing keeping him breathing.
