Disclaimer: These following events didn't happen, and I just wanted to make a story about them. So it's all just a fiction. :)
It was the year 1952 when I started acting. I actually first appeared in a Pepsi commercial. I there realized that I wanted to be part of a movie and upgrade.
In the year 1954, I remembered being so nervous and scared, because there were a lot of more good looking and more confident men than me. I don't even know what name I should tell the director back then. James Dean? Jimmy Dean? Byron Dean? That moment was so frustrating.
While I was waiting for my turn, I was just smoking cigarette with a man. I can't remember his name though. Smoking helps me calm down and forget all about my problems. When it was finally my turn, I felt as if I'm ready to pee. Even if I'm all panicky inside, I still have to act all cool outside.
When I got inside, I saw two men and one woman at the table. A lady gave me a script and told me to read the dialogues of Cal. The director told me I should act like a troubled man. I believe the character suits me perfectly. I took a deep breath, and did my part. So long as I started acting, I suddenly felt easy and confident. When I already finished acting, I heard claps. I was just paralyzed and shocked.
"Congratulations James Dean. You'll be playing the part of Cal of East of Eden, the main character," The lady said.
"Oh. Wow. Why thank you so much madam," I happily said.
I made my way towards them and shook their hands.
"See you soon. We'll just call you," the other man said. I just nodded, while smiling like an idiot. Then I finally made my way outside. That day was the happiest day so far. I always smile whenever I remember that day.
Yet, when I suddenly remembered Pier Angeli, my heart broke again. I believe what we had was already Love. Yet, she already married another man. What's worse is that I actually saw her getting married.
Now here I am in a diner, eating sadly. Damn my life.
While I was eating, I heard the doorbell rang. I believed there's another costumer. When I looked up, I saw a lady. Her hair was pixie cut and colored chocolate brown. She was wearing a white dress with polka dots pattern. She looked like a model.
She was looking up on the order menu. She smiles apologetically at the cashier man, who was just love struck.
Afterwards, she started speaking and pointing something at the menu. She then paid and started finding a table.
I realized there's an empty table beside me. When she spotted the table, she turned towards it. So long as she sat down, I heard people murmuring and whispering behind me.
"Wow. It's Audrey Hepburn. She's more beautiful in person," the guy from the back murmured.
Wait.
I think she's all too familiar. Her name is well known in Hollywood. She was said to be the most elegant and cheerful lady in Hollywood.
I was just staring at her. I have to admit, she is pretty. She suddenly glanced at me. I quickly looked down at my coffee.
"Good morning, Ms. Hepburn. Here's your order. Enjoy."
"Oh why, thank you." She has a British accent.
When I took a look at her, she was just eating formally. She looked adorable. Wait. What am I even saying? Get a hold of yourself James.
"Um. Sir, are you okay?" I quickly snapped out of my thoughts. I realized Audrey was looking at me worriedly. Was she the one who asked me if I was okay? Damn it.
"Sir, Are you okay?" She asked again.
"Uh. Ye-yeah," I stuttered.
"Glad to hear, because you were just staring towards my direction," said she.
"Uh. Well. I'm so sorry," I sheepishly said.
"Wait. I think I know you."
"Really? Um. My name is James. James Dean," I said.
"Right! I remembered now. You played the character Jim Stark from the Rebel without a cause," she happily said.
I suddenly blushed. I don't really blush. What in the world is up with this lady?
"Yes madam. You must be Audrey Hepburn," I said.
"You know me? I never thought that you actually know my name," she shyly said.
"You're famous all around Hollywood yet, I don't know anything about you. I'm sorry," I murmured.
"It's alright. We're the same. I only know your name but not really the whole you. Still, I know a lot about your character Jim Stark."
She then looked down and played with her fingers. Her little gestures seemed to please me. I don't even know why. I wanted to know more about her.
"Can I sit with you? I hope you don't mind," I said nervously.
"Sure! I don't mind. Come, sit down." Then she gestured me to sit in front of her. I got up and grabbed my coffee then finally made my way to her table.
So long as I sat down, we started talking to each other. At first it was awkward, but later we're already calm. We talked about our past, and some of our future plans. I even talked to her about Pier Angeli.
"That's a bummer!" She stated, annoyed.
"I know. But maybe it's meant to happen," I said.
"Maybe. But still, why would she do that? I mean, I could see that it's already love," she said with her mouth full.
"Maybe she's already tired of me. Besides, I've got no chance of winning her at the first place since her parents don't like me," I sadly said.
"Well. Love is such a cruel thing. Anyhow, cheer up James. You're ugly when you're sad. Just smile and let go. You can find another woman to love," she said in a cheerful manner. That made me smile though. Odd because she managed to make my mood cheer up in a couple of seconds. I just smiled at this lady.
Afterwards, we talked about our movies, interests, and dislikes. I never thought I'd be comfortable around her.
Every time she laughs, it just makes my heart beat fast. I didn't even care what's happening with the other costumers.
Suddenly, she checked her watch, and her eyes widened.
"I'm late!" She shouted. She then started fixing her things.
"Why?" I asked.
"I've got an interview. I'll be so embarrassed when I get there," she nervously replied.
"Oh. I see. Anyways, do you need a ride?" I asked.
"No thank you, my friend. I don't want to bother you and besides, I love to bike. Anyways, I'm so sorry." Then she stood up. I followed her outside.
I thought it was a motor bike ride, but it wasn't. It was an adorable sky blue bicycle. How classic. I just chuckled.
"I know it's just a bicycle, but it's very helpful to the world. It has no smoke coming out of it. Anyways, I'm absolutely sorry James. I hope we'll see each other again. I had fun talking to you. Thank you for the talk," she shyly said.
"You have an adorable bike. Anyhow, I had so much fun talking with you. You made me forget about my problems. So, um. Thanks and you're welcome. I'm really hoping to see you again," I murmured.
"I hope so. Goodbye, Mr. Dean." Then she smiled pleasantly at me.
"Goodbye, Ms. Hepburn." She then started biking away.
I went back inside the diner. When I sat down, something caught my eyes. I saw a pair of gloves, which I believe belongs to Audrey. I grabbed the gloves and put them on my hands.
Surprisingly, her hands are small. I felt butterflies in my stomach. I quickly shrugged it off.
I grabbed the gloves and went out of the diner. I then made my way to my motorcycle, and finally took off.
