Holding Keaton's hand for the first time as his official girlfriend! I looked up at him expecting to see it radiating with joy, but it had concern laced across his features. He noticed me looking and a smile tugged at the edge of his lips.
"You ok?" I bluntly stated. He looked over at me almost deciding what to say. He then nodded, smiled and squeezed my hand. "Of course," he said leaning over and kissing me on the cheek. I blushed and turned away. "Let's go" he stated pulling me along to the car.
When we got out to the parking lot there was a load of people still just arriving or leaving, a lot of them where crying. I knew that would upset Keaton because he was just that type of person. I looked over at him and sure enough he was staring at the ground. I stopped walking and he didn’t notice till he almost pulled me over. “Oh I’m so sorry Cocoa.” He said softly but sincerely. “Oh it’s fine, listen to me though. Most of them wanted this for the wrong reason, for the fame. But you, you Drew and Wes, you want it for the music, your love for music.” He tilted his head up to take in what I said. I then continued, “You guys could and probably will make it big and I need you to always remember that.” I knew he agreed with me, because he smiled and took my hands into his then quickly crashed his lips into mine. It was a quick kiss, but felt amazing. We then quickly ran and jumped into the car.
“We need to stop for gas,” Drew announced 20 minutes into our 2-hour trip home. “I want cotton candy then,” I stated. Wes quickly spun around, “none for you!” He exclaimed. He scared me and I instinctively flew into Keaton’s arms. He had been my protector for as long as I can remember. He got himself suspended in the fourth grade for hitting a kid that told me I had cooties.
Keaton then leaned over and whispered into my ear, “I’ll get you some baby.” It sent shivers up my spine. He had never called me anything like that before.
I spent the rest of the drive attempting to mentally prepare myself for tomorrow. It was the day I had to go through half the stuff in my house and decide what to sell and what to keep.
The evening slipped away like some dust going into a vacuum. Before I knew it I was awakened by Keaton’s gentle voice. “I know today is gonna be rough,” I turned over to look at him, “but I got something for you, before we went to audition. He pulled out a box I was very familiar with. He had bought me another charm. “I got this for you,” he said as he pulled a little guitar charm out of the box. “It’s to stand for the xfactor and the first step in Emblem3’s music journey, but it is so perfect because it is a reminder of our conversation yesterday. How music is the reason not the fame.”
I looked up at his sparkling green eyes, “I love it.” I held out my wrist so he could put it on. “Are you ready for today?” he asked as he fiddled with the clip on the charm. “No, I’m still in my pj’s,” I said in a duh kind of way. “I didn’t mean physically I meant mentally, this is going to be really hard. I know you and I know you are strong you can do this.” Keaton stated as his fingers brushed against my forehead twisting my hair behind my ear. “I’m not as strong as you think,” I burst out crying, as I threw myself under the covers. I hated being around people when I cried. Keaton pulled the covers back, and pulled me into his firm grasp. “You’ll be okay,” he cuddled with me until I stopped crying.
After Keaton left I went to the bathroom to wash up and get changed. I dragged myself down the stairs, the last thing I wanted was to face anyone today. “You ready to go sweetie?” Mrs. S asked. I nodded and walked straight out the door. Keaton ran out the door seconds later and met me just outside the car. He opened the door for me then walked over the other side of the car and got in.
We arrived at my house all to fast and before I knew it we where walking up the stone steps to my front door, caution tape dangling off the railing like melancholy Christmas lights.
Memories flooded through my head, I stopped dead in my tracks. Just as I was about to open the door.
“I am going to your uncle Carl’s for the weekend Cocoa.” My dad said as we where walking towards the house. “He is your only brother right?” I asked. “Yup, actually he is your only living relative.” He said.
I felt sick spinning around to face both Mrs. S and Keaton. “Are you okay you look like your gonna faint, maybe we should do this another day?” Keaton suggested. “Who the hell is Ted?” I yelled.
Well I decided to continue, I know its been so long im sorry but do you guys think I should finish this book or start a new one? Comment what you think.
