She's asleep naked and stunning spread out on the bed and I can't take my eyes off of her. I've been awake for a while but the lure of Katy sleeping is too much for me to resist so I haven't moved far. The most I've done is make myself a cup of tea which is now going cold next to me as I sit at the bottom of the bed and watch her. Her dyed black hair is tousled from our love making and splayed out over the pillow she really is a sight for saw eye.
"I could get a complex." Her voice is thick with sleep and she hasn't opened her eyes but she knows I'm watching her.
"You shouldn't look so beautiful even when you're asleep then should you."
"I'm pretty sure I look a right sight."
I crawl closer to the bed moving hair from her face kissing her nose.
"To me you always look beautiful even when you're dribbling in your sleep."
"Hey I don't dribble." She swats at me lazily and I evade her without much effort "You take that back I don't dribble."
"You're asleep how would you know?" I point out and she just rolls her eyes at me. She stretches raising her arms above her head and arching her back, she's so agile that she even makes stretching sexy. She pats the bed next to her and I'm in the process of taking her up on her offer, I can't think of a better way to spend my morning than in Katy's arms, when my phone rings. It's Jane's number and I know better than to ignore her she wouldn't be phoning right now unless it was very important. So I keep my spot on the floor and answer my phone making Katy pouts.
"Jane."
"I know I'm probably interrupting something but this is important."
"What's up?"
"Lewis is down in lobby and he's not leaving till he's seen you I've told him I'll call the police and he's not fazed."
I don't want to alert Katy that's anything is wrong so I keep my tone light as I answer.
"Yeah that is a pain have you seen it."
"Ok why are we speaking in code?"
"I'm having a lazy morning with Katy."
"Oh and you don't want her to know."
"Not just yet."
"Ok so what do you want me to do?"
"There's no way it will just stop." I ask fidgeting on the floor why is this happening this morning I was starting what was shaping up to be an amazing day and I just know now that Lewis is going to try and spoil it. I catch Katy's eye and she smiles at me I can tell she's trying not to listen but she can't help it.
"No he's going to start pulling the hotel apart soon." Jane speaks pulling my attention away from Katy and back to the conversation at hand.
"Ok I'll be out." It's not something I want to do I don't want to deal with his drama this morning or ever really if I'm honest but if he is going to cause a scene then I need to try and nip it in the bud.
"You want me to bring him up!"
I can hear the alarm in her voice she thinks I've gone crazy and maybe I have. Hotel security and my security team should be able to handle this, handle him. Somewhere inside me I feel as though this is my fault I've hurt him and I know if it wasn't for that he wouldn't be acting like this. "Better that than a free show." I finally tell her.
"What's the matter?" Katy asks the moment I hang up she's lying on her stomach looking at me a quizzical look etched on her face. There's a huge difference between what she wants to hear right now and what I want to tell her. I want to tell her that's nothing's wrong and that I'll be back in a bit I just need to sort Jane out. I don't want her to have to keep dealing with Lewis he's my problem. I know she wants the truth she wants to support me no matter what and she will be heartbroken if she ever found out I kept this from her and lied about it.
When I don't answer after a moment she moves from the bed holding one of the sheets to her body covering her naked form as she comes to stand in front of me cupping my cheek with her free hand.
"You know you can tell me anything right no matter how bad you think it might be I'm always going to be here to help you out." She assures me kissing my forehead.
"Lewis is kicking off down stairs and he's not going anywhere till I've spoken to him." I finally admit with a heavy sigh.
"What does he want? He has nothing to do with you anymore." She's trying to stay calm for me but I know she's upset that he's here.
"I don't know that's what I'm going to find out."
"You don't have to see him you know that. He has no right to demand that you do."
"I know I don't have to but I think I should whatever he wants it has something to do with the way I've treated him so I should at least see if I can stop this before he does something stupid."
"If you want to see him I'm not going to stop you I'll never try to tell you who you can't see that would be suffocating. I'm coming with you though 'Lex we're in this together."
I almost knew that this was coming she wouldn't want me to feel like I was in this alone what we did we did together.
"Not this Lewis is my problem he always has been I don't want you to have to deal with my shit."
"Like you shouldn't have to deal with my shit when my parents started but you were right there next to me." She pulls me closer and I go willingly into her arms wrapping my arms around her pulling her flush to me. "Why do you get to be there for me but I can't return the favour Alex it's not fair and it's not really something I want to be a part of."
"What?" I pull away from her a little so I can see her face. She's looking at me determined and for some reason it makes me smile.
"Don't laugh at me."
"I'm not I'm laughing at the situation. Lewis would be rubbing his hands together if he could see us now." I tell her kissing her nose as she wrinkles it at me. "I just want to protect you I'm not trying to stop you from being there for me and deal with my shit. I need you now more than ever."
"We're a team through it all or really not at all Alex I can't choose when I care it doesn't work like that."
"I know and I get that but I'm always going to try and protect you if I think I can."
