The Boys Are Back

I looked at my reflection with disdain. Ring barer. I scoffed to myself, shaking my head. How can I be part of something I want to end? I put my hands in the pockets of my suit pants, holding up the big jacket. I'm being forced to wear Adam's father's wedding tux. It was too small for Adam, the man of tradition, so he had me wear it so it was still apart of the wedding, even though I'm too small for it!

We're getting ready in tents. The wedding is outside at the lake outside of town, since it hasn't gotten too cold yet. I have my own tent, all to myself, or so its supposed to be. Adam barges in every ten minutes to yell at me again and again for something I'm not doing.

"What are you doing just standing here? Get a move on you dope!"

"I'm already ready!"

"You're not ready until you something with that!" He gestured towards my hair.

"Ugh!" I groaned after he left and sat down on a box near by, putting my head in my hands, down between my legs. The wedding hadn't even started yet and that man was already giving me a head ache. I heard the tent flapping open again and sighed. "Look," I started to look up and glare, "there is nothing I can d-"

"I don't want you to change, you're perfect the way you are!" Eli smirked at me from the entrance of my tent. He took off his sunglasses and started rubbing them on his white shirt. He had a little bow tie at the bottom of his collar, slicked back hair, an open black jacket with the sleeves rolled up above his elbow, and black pants. He held his cane in his free hand. He looked great, although his eyes were still covered by the fake glass ones.

"Eli!" I shot up and ran over to him, tackling him in a hug.

"Hey!" He laughed, "I missed you too!" We were both on the ground now, laughing.

"So how has school been?" I asked.

"Oh, not that great. Isaac and Eric are constantly talking about you. They spread a rumor that you've been sent to an insane asylum. Sorry!"

"It's not your fault anyway. Plus, when I come back to school, we can have some fun!"

"That's my guy!" He smirked at me. I heard my watch start beeping.

"Oh! The ceremony is going to start soon! You better get back out there with your mom and Tim!" We stood up together and brushed ourselves off.

"Alright. I'll see you soon bro!"

"Wait!" I hugged him again. "I- I love you bro. Like, you're my best friend and I can't live without you man! I mean, not like I want this wedding to be for us but..."

"I get it bro, I love you too man. You're still not my type though."

"Wow, okay then. I don't know how to feel about that but okay." I pulled away and fixed his suit jacket.

"Good luck." He patted my shoulder.

  Thanks. I'll see you soon."

"Bye, Jared."

"Bye, Eli." He put his glasses on and stared searching around with his cane.

My best friend is back. Maybe this won't be completely awful.
