Once we are inside, Cole starts questioning me on Tristan's presence at Dot's. Apparently, he tried to ask Paige about it, but she was more focused on ranting over having to watch girls throw themselves at him.

I go ahead and fill everyone in on what Tristan said to me at Dot's. As expected, Eli and Cole want to track him down immediately and start interrogating him, but thankful Paige and I manage to calm them down. There will be plenty of time for that, and even though we are still unsure of his role in all this, I can't shake the feeling that he is on our side. However, I know I won't be able to convince the others of that.

"Seeing him at the diner made the feeling that I have seen him before even stronger," Paige says. "But I must admit I was a little more focused on the vultures trying to swoop in on Cole," she growls.

"Isn't she adorable when she's jealous," Cole says, earning himself an eyeroll.

Tyler reminds us that we already have something we can do to try and get some answers. If not about Tristan, then maybe about the shadow. Knowing that he is right, we all start to push the furniture to the edges of the living room.

We form our circle, and as soon as we link hands, the air around us picks up and the faucets in the kitchen start running. The fireplace ignites on it's own and it feels like the floor is somehow rooting us in place. Then the walls of my house disappear, replaced by an abundance of trees.

We are standing in the Greek forest once again.

The four of us are in our circle, high up on the rocky cliff. The familiar waves of the turbulent sea crashing below. I can feel the heat of the fire as it rages between us, and the current of power flowing between each of us.

Looking at the faces of my friends, who all nod their encouragement, I reach down for the sharp blade resting at my feet. Its long serrated edge was a menacing sight, but I didn't seem to be afraid.

Then the shadows begin to move.

Tristan walks out of the darkness and into the light of the full moon. His face is scrunched up in anger, but when he looks at me, his eyes hold nothing but sadness. Then my attention shifts over as Callie steps up beside him, Makaria hovering over her right shoulder. The smirk she gives me is an exact reflection of how she looks at me now, as she orders the shadow demon to attack.

And then it is headed straight for us.

When we come back to the present we are all flying back and onto our butts in the living room. Everyone is breathing hard, and Paige and I look at each other, both of our eyes wide with shock. "Callie!" we say together.

Callie and Tristan were both responsible for the shadow being after us. But even though I saw it with my own eyes, I still have a hard time understanding how Tristan can be on that side of things. Callie I have no trouble believing is evil, but every time Tristan has spoken to me he seemed like he was trying to protect me and warn me. Not hurt me.

Even in my memories with him, I wasn't afraid of him. They showed that we had been intimate with each other. Unless it was all lies fabricated on his part.

Paige stands up and winces, grabbing her shoulder, and Cole immediately goes to her side. "What happened?"

"I hit the edge of the coffee table when I flew back," she explains, and he pulls down her jacket and the collar of her shirt to expose the skin. He places his hand on the injury and when she gives him the thumbs up, he plants a soft kiss there as well.
