Athens, Greece 616 BC

I'm walking out of the woods with a basket full of fruit perched on my hip. I had spent the majority of the morning scouring the forest for Father's favorites, but when day begin to grow warmer, I was ready to cool off in the spring with Paige. On my way into town to deliver my bounty, I see the two, new architects. The younger one is in the process of chiseling a large slab of stone, and his brother Elijah is sitting on the ground next to him, his head thrown back in laughter. There are several other laborers busily moving around them, and I am debating rather I should say hello, or continue on my and not disturb them. However, when Elijah suddenly jerks his head in my direction and I look into those green eyes of his, my feet start moving across the road to reach him.

I greet each of them and offer up a couple of nectarines from my basket. Elijah smiles up at me as I pass him one, and lets his hand linger on mine. His fingers brush back and forth as he lightly caresses my palm, then he is suddenly jerking his hand back and snatching the fruit away. I am left feeling confused and rejected, then I see his eyes narrow on something behind me.

I turn around to see Tristan marching toward us with a scowl on his face.

Alice

Paige and I get to school a little later than usual thanks to our new house guests, but still manage to beat the bell. Over breakfast I had filled everyone in on my late night visit from Tristan, and my new found information. Eli was less than thrilled at the thought of me spending time alone with Tristan and I knew he would really lose it if he knew about my second visitor. So, as much as I didn't want to keep anything from him, I chose to omit the Finn part of the night from the conversation.

Now knowing that Callie was not only apart of our ancient past, but also a dangerous siren working with Makaria, Paige and I decided we needed to keep an eye on her. It wouldn't be easy, especially since we couldn't do anything that would raise her suspicions. Things like this is were usually reserved for Tyler, but since Tristan could see him, we had to assume that Callie could too. Plus, he thought it would be best to stay home for the day and keep an eye on Eli and Cole. I told him he was being ridiculous, that we all knew they weren't the bad guys. They were our family.

Yet, with our latest Callie and Tristan discoveries he wanted to be extra sure. So, he stayed behind to spy and made me promise not to tell anyone he was there. I didn't like it, but I did understand his fears, and I knew the guys would too. They would probably appreciate him for being so cautious when it comes to our safety. Well, at least Elijah would.

"You know," Paige says. "Spying on Callie might not be as hard as you think it is."

"How do you figure?"

"She is dating Finn. All you have to do is spy on him and then you will see what she is doing."

"I can't just spy on my ex boyfriend," I tell her.

"Alice, don't take this the wrong way but... you kind of already do watch him all the time."

"What!?" I screech, "I so do not."

"Okay, maybe not all the time," she agrees, "But you still do a lot."

I couldn't believe this. I thought I was being so careful NOT to pay any attention to Finn. I needed him to understand that we were over and had been doing everything I could to ignore him. At least I thought I was.

We don't see either of them before first period calculus, but as we part ways to go to our separate second period classes, I do see Tristan. He is leaning against the wall talking to one of their friends, Ryan I think, and as if he can sense me watching him, his body stiffens and he turns to look at me. He nods goodbye to Ryan and starts down the hall in the opposite direction. He disappeared after the bombshell he drop on me last night by showing me that vision of the car accident, and now he was going out of his way to avoid me. What a punk!
