We leave the school to wait for the girls to get out, and decide to drive around Westchester until we find a coffee shop. Which doesn't take very long since there isn't much town to navigate.

After being apart for the past three days I was feeling overwhelmingly anxious while waiting for the clock to move forward. The way it felt to just be able to lay eyes on Alice was blissful. Then to hold her and kiss her again... I would never get my fill of it.

I wasn't sure at first that showing up unannounced was going to go over so well. But the look on Alice face when she saw me let me know that I made the right choice. I was mostly worried about being able to find them. There was only one high school in the whole town so that was easy enough to find. And I knew Alice's lunch period. The biggest hurdle would have been if we couldn't get into the school, or if we arrived too late. I had no idea where her or Paige lived and it's not like I could ask without raising suspicion that I was up to something.

Cole thought just being here was surprise enough and wanted to text them to meet us in the parking lot. Not thinking we should risk walking into a school we didn't attend to scan the cafeteria.

However, I knew exactly where Alice was. I didn't even have to think about it and my legs led me around the building to the courtyard, and without even having to search, my eyes immediately fell onto a concrete wall where she and Paige were sitting. Like there was a tether holding us together and I just had to follow it. Maybe it was the red string of fate.

We order our coffees and try to kill time, but I know my brother is just as impatient to get back to his girl as I am to mine. I have to admit, I was disappointed that they didn't want to skip out on the rest of the day to be with us. If Alice showed up at my school after days apart and asked me to come with her, I would face expulsion, Even if it was to only spend a minute in her presence.

Of course, the rational part of me did understand though. They told us in Seattle they had already missed a few days of school before going because of all this crazy shadow stuff. And since they were still in high school, there absences were more likely to get them into trouble.

"Let's get some grub," Cole says. "I'm so hungry."

"Don't you think we should wait for the girls to get out so we can eat together?"

"They were just at lunch!" he complains.

"It's almost two," I tell him checking my phone. "You can't be patient for an hour and a half?"

He finally settles on getting a muffin for now. Which is beneficial to everyone that has to come in contact with him since he has a large tendency to get hangry. "What are we going to do for the rest of the time?" he asks after devouring his pastry in only a couple of bites.

"Want to find a place to try and beat each other up with superpowers?"

That seems to uplift his spirits instantly, "I am so in big brother."

Finn

"Who's that?" Ryan asks.

I follow his gaze toward the edge of the courtyard, making sure to avoid where I know Alice is sitting, over to two guys I've never seen before. Which is a rare sight in this school, and soon they have the attention of everyone in the vicinity. They look almost like twins, with only subtle differences between them, and even though they appear to be our age, something about them gives off the vibe that they are too old to be in high school.
