I get to the truck and drive straight to the bar like planned, but it takes Paige fifteen minutes to show up.

"Where have you been?"

"Finn stopped me in the parking lot to ask where you were. I tried to tell him I didn't know, but since I was carrying your backpack he didn't buy it."

"How did you finally get rid of him?"

"Callie called his name, and I took the opportunity to make a break for it."

"Of course," I mumble and Paige gives me a sympathetic look. "It doesn't matter. We have work to do."

The three of us stand in the parking lot, plotting our next move. Knowing that because we are underage, walking in to just look around would definitely draw attention. So, we decide to send in Tyler first, and check if anybody inside looks like it could be Tristan. If there is then Paige and I will go in and corner him.

"I don't even know what this guy looks like," Tyler complains.

"About six feet tall, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, annoyingly attractive." Paige and Tyler both raise an eyebrow at my last description. "What? I'm just stating the facts," I shrug. "Now go in there and see if anyone fits the look," I say, shooing Tyler along.

"Sure. I'll just go check the bar for a dark-haired, hot guy," he rolls his eye. "The things I do for you, Alice."

"Thank you!" I shout as he heads inside.

Tyler comes back only a minute later stating there is nobody inside under the age of forty. Not knowing what else to do, and not ready to head back home in case of any unwanted visitors, we decide to wait in the parking lot for awhile to see if he shows. Even though we all know he likely won't.

"It's a Monday afternoon," Tyler reminds me. "Nobody is coming to the bar, except the people who basically live at the bar. Mr. Tall, dark, and handsome isn't going to show up."

"But we don't have anything else to go on," I say in frustration.

We hang out for another hour just in case, lounging on the tailgate of my dad's truck, until Paige complains, "I have so much work to do."

"Me too, but we knew that would happen when we left town."

"Let's go to your place and get started on our mountain of make-up work," she says jumping down from the bed of the truck. A much longer descent for her than most.

"Or here's an idea, let's go to your place, instead," I suggest.

"You have to go home eventually, Alice."

"She's right," Ty agrees. "If you just talk to him and get it over with then he will leave you alone and you can be done with this."

"I have a feeling it won't be that easy," I sigh, but climb back behind the wheel of the truck to head home anyway.

As I drive, Ty and I try to figure out what to say to Finn to make him leave me alone for good. Even though we both know I don't actually want him too. I just can't admit that out loud, what with my current Elijah situation.

"You know the reason you left was to keep him safe and that still stands, Alice. As long as he is around you, then he is in danger," Tyler, reminds me. "The shadow attack is still in his future."

I know he's right, but even if the danger wasn't there I would still have to end it. I slept with someone else and there is no coming back from that. We were over then and I knew it.
