Alice
Cole and Paige start to pack and clean up all evidence they were here, while Tristan takes Finn to pick up his car at the school. Although, I think that was more about Finn getting away from me, then caring about picking up his car. Especially when the one escorting him was the same siren that threatened to kill him recently.
I had just started to unload the dishwasher when Eli comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my middle. "I'm sorry," he says with a kiss to my neck.
I hadn't talked to him since I blew him out the door, and I didn't know how mad he still was with me. He stayed upstairs with Cole for a ling time, and after Paige told me they were going to start getting their stuff together, I assumed the defrosting was complete. Elijah just didn't want to come down and see me.
"I'm sorry too," I sigh. "I don't like fighting with you,"
I turn around to wrap my arms around his neck and leans up to kiss him. He grabs under my thighs and lifts me up to sit on the counter then deepens the kiss more.
Before I know it my shirt is being pulled over my head, and he is stepping between my legs to get closer. One of his hand goes up the bare skin of my back, and the other behind my neck to tilt my head back where he plants a trail of kisses down my neck and to my chest. He then makes the journey back up.
"I think I should meet your dad," he whispers into my ear.
I put my hand on his chest and gently push him back. "Way to kill the mood."
"Sorry," he smiles, "I was just thinking about how it would be easier for me to be here with you if he knew me."
"You really think that is a good idea? I don't even know how I would explain meeting a college guy from Canada," I say buttoning my shirt back up.
"You could say I am here visiting a relative,." he suggests.
"And that we decided to start dating even though you are just visiting?"
"Why not? I know we probably can't tell him we are engaged yet, but I still have to meet him eventually."
I hear Cole and Paige making there way down the stairs and Eli passes me my shirt, and then grabs my waist and help lift me off the counter. When he moves to set me down I see Finn had been standing behind us. His face a mix of shock and anguish.
"You two are engaged?"
"You didn't tell him?" Eli asks suspiciously.
"Of course not," I tell him while pulling free from his grasp to move closer to Finn. "It just happened last night," I say to both of them.
I reach out to grab Finn's hand and explain to him why he didn't know, but he takes a couple of steps backward.
"Finn, please let me explain," I beg, but he turns and bolts out the door.
"No!" I shout and go to chase after him, but Cole grabs me and lifts me off the ground to stop me. "Let me go!" I shout at him.
"Sorry little sister, but it's not safe for you to run off on your own."
"That's exactly why you have to let me go! He can't be out there. He doesn't even have any powers to protect himself!"
"It's okay, he probably just went home." Cole tries to reassure me. "We will go get him."
Paige and Cole walk over to Finn's house to see if that's where he is, while I call and text over and over, but he never answers. And a few minutes later they come back shaking their heads.
"What if he was just pretending not to be home?" I ask.
"Then Tyler would probably have let us know," Paige says sympathetically. I can tell by her face that she is worried about him, too. Like she told Cole yesterday, they have known each other all their lives and she cares about him.
"Is there anywhere else you think he would go?" Cole asks, and when he asks I don't even have to think about it. I know exactly where he is. He is on his way to the forest. To his special spot.
I try to think of how to get to him and make sure he is safe, without telling anybody where I am going, or worse have them tag along. I have taken enough from Finn, I won't take away this too.
I spy the truck keys sitting on the counter and get an idea. I tell everyone I will think about places to check while I am in my room, then as stealthily as I can, I palm the keys in my hand and head up the stairs.
Paige and Eli both offer to come with me, but I tell them I just want to be alone. Then when the door is closed, I dash across my room and open the window, to follow Finn's path over my garage and down the tree.
I stay as quiet as possible as I duck under windows and make my way to the driver's side door of the truck. I open it and get in, but don't close the door all the way knowing it would be too loud. Once I start it up the odds are pretty high that everyone will hear, so I take a deep breath and prepare myself to move as fast as possible.
The second the engine roars to life, I throw the gear shift into reverse and close the door as I roll down the driveway. Then without fully stopping, I switch to drive and floor it. I turn throughout the neighborhood instead of heading straight for the main road in case they are following. I don't want them to see where I am headed.
When I think I am far enough away, I stop to pull out my phone and text Eli that I am sorry and I am okay. I remind him that unlike Finn, I do have super powers and will be fine, and then I finally get onto the highway.
I press down on the gas and speed more than I have in my life, afraid that at any moment Callie could find him. I was worried that I wouldn't remember where to stop, but then I see his car parked on the side of the road. He is here.
I head into the woods, and even though I had only been here once, my feet know where to go. Like, I was instinctively following some invisible trail he left for me to find. Then before I know it, I see the gazebo. And Finn.
I sigh out in relief then continue closing the distance. He has a knife in his hand and appears to be carving something into one of the wooden posts, but turns at the sound of my approach.
"Alice? What are you doing here?"
He sets the knife down and starts steps down from the wooden platform to meet me. I ignore his question and walk straight to him and wrap my arms around him squeezing as tight as I can.
"Alice, are you okay?" He pushes me back to look at my face like he's searching for wounds.
"You left," I state.
"I know. I'm sorry," he says, and starts to hug me again, but this time I pull back, but instead of speaking I slap him right in the face. The sound echoing throughout the trees.
"You scared the shit out of me!" I shout. "I was so scared that something bad would happen," my voice cracks as I hold back my tears, not ready to stop being angry.
However, Finn seems barely phased by my assault, and instead gently cups my cheeks in his hands. "I'm sorry," he says again, but softer.
Then I am assaulting him once again, but this time it's with my lips. Finn seems surprised for just a moment, but then pulls me closer to his body and deepens the kiss.
The air around us becomes charged and the wind begins to swirl around, caressing our skin and shielding us from anything on the outside of our own little world. Then, almost as suddenly as I started it, I pull back in shock.
"Oh my god," I gasp, covering my mouth with my hand.
Unable to believe what I just did, I turn and run. I can hear him chasing after me, calling my name, and I don't get far until I remember the whole reason for being there was so Finn wouldn't be alone and in danger. So, I come to a halt, and wait for him to catch up. But the footsteps have stopped, and the forest is now eerily quiet.
I slowly start to walk back the way I came and soon find Finn, standing completely still, his face blank. A snap of a twig makes my head jerk to the left as Callie stalks out from behind the trees.
"Hello, Alice," she smirks.
