Giraffe frowned then nodded. "Alright. This is not unheard of."
He stood and moved to a cabinet "Oh and you will need to look at Kyanite's wound." Kyanite looked at me then sighed removing his shirt again.
I smiled at the sight of his bare chest as Giraffe and Kyanite moved off to another room. Kyros shifted next to me. "Reina I'm sorry I didn't warn you about the crossbows."
I laughed and patted his arm. "What would a warning do Kyros? I can't dodge a crossbow bolt I didn't see."
He sighed and I could see him feeling guilty. I smiled at him. "You really couldn't have known. Hell, I didn't know until I lifted my shirt."
"What? How could you not know you were hurt?"
I shrugged. "I'm a Rat. When things are happening around us and we are scared we can ignore wounds until we feel safe. I didn't feel safe until you and Kyanite were near me. Then I felt something wrong."
He smiled and looked at the door Kyanite was behind. "You sure it wasn't just Kyanite?"
I shook my head as he looked back at me. "It was definitely both of you. I know you both will protect me."
We both laughed. At that moment Kyanite and Giraffe walked out of the room. "What's funny?" Kyanite growled.
Kyros stood up and walked to the door leading out. "I'll leave you to explain Reina. I'm going to check our supplies" He left and I sighed.
"I'm not sure what we were laughing at. I think it was just relief that I'm alright."
Giraffe started pulling things out of cupboards and draws as I talked. "Are you in pain Reina?"
I shook my head at Kyanite's question watching Giraffe pack up his things. "Kyanite we will need a horse or something for Giraffe and more supplies."
Kyanite nodded and came over to me. "I will buy a cart and another horse. You work on healing OK?"
He stroked my head again sending that same shiver down my spine I got every time someone stroked my head. I smiled at him and nodded. Kyanite left and I winced as I laid back.
"He told me you have been looking after that wound."
I looked over at Giraffe "Yes?"
"It is doing well."
I could tell he wanted to ask me something more but was obviously afraid to ask from his shifting his feet.
"You don't need to be afraid of those two. They are grumpy and overprotective. Ask your question and don't worry about their tempers."
He looked over at me and sighed. "He doesn't know what stroking your head means to a Rat does he?"
I smiled. "No. There has been quite a lot of misunderstanding between the three of us. We have worked them out for the most part. This is new ground for all of us and so we must forgive each other. Each misunderstanding will be rectified with time."
