The next morning I opened my eyes and smiled. My body was free of pain thanks to Kyanite curled up around me. He was tall enough that when he tucked his legs up and pulled me into his chest I was surrounded by his warmth. I shifted and he sighed. "I'm not ready to get up yet." He grumbled in my ear.

I chuckled sniffing the nice food smells from outside the waggon. "Me either because as soon as you move so will the warm that makes the pain go away, but I'm hungry and I can smell food."

Kyanite sighed and climbed out of the bed. "We will need to pack up before food."

I sighed too wincing as I sat up. Unfortunately, I was right about the pain I'm in. I swung my legs out of the bed as Kyanite brought over some things to wash with. "I can give you some painkillers..."

I shook my head at him and he smiled as I washed myself. He jumped when I though the cloth at him for staring at me with my top off.

"Reina, are you up?" Eric called from outside.

Now I was dressed I stood and climbed over the seat looking over at him by Kyros. "We will stop down the road for breakfast and then move on. If we do this we should make the next town before nightfall." Eric said as he climbed into the back of the small cart.

"Good plain." I said as Kyanite jumped down and turned to me.

He smiled as he offered me help down. Once my feet were on that ground I knew I could put my pain aside and finish packing up what we didn't get to last night.

Kyros and Eric tended their things while I restocked the back of the waggon. I closed the door and locked it as Kyanite came up behind me.

The villagers started to gather around the edge of the muddy ground. I turned to face him and he put the ruby necklace around my neck.

I smiled up at him as he whispered. "We have an audience."

I made a show of looking at it and then giving him a big hug and a small kiss on his cheek. When I let him go I saw the old woman walking up. "It does look good around her neck." She said grinning.

"You're sure you don't feel like you got a raw deal?" The old woman laughed at Kyanite's question.

"I didn't know I had a ruby, so I'm far better off now I sold it to you than if I had kept it. Now I have something to give to my family."

I smiled at her. "Well, it is beautiful. I wish we could stay but unfortunately, we must leave soon or we won't reach the next town before dark." I said taking her hand.

The old woman shook my hand and Kyanite's. Then she stepped back into the group of townswomen waving us off as we walked around the waggon and then climbed up. I sat on the seat as Kyanite handed me the reins of the horse sitting next to me on the bench. The one woman who wore fine clothing stood a little separately from the others and glared at the ruby around my neck. Her eyes made me feel self-conscious.
