Kyanite moved closer and offered me his arm

Kyanite moved closer and offered me his arm. I leaned into him and he whispered. "They are looking. I think they may try and listen when we go to bed."

I smiled. "I don't think Kyros will let them."

Kyanite chuckled. "I don't either."

I looked around the mine entrance. Men still pulled carts in and out of the mine even now it was dark. "You carve rocks?"

Kyanite smiled at me. "What else do you expect a Dragon to do?" He opened his bag and in it was a load of rocks. "I traded a carving for these."

I shook my head. "And I suppose not all are for carving."

He shook his head and stood. "Are you coming to bed wife of mine?" I stood putting my bowl aside and laughed as he took my hand walking me to the cart. We stopped next to Kyros. "Bother... it seems to me that some of these men might want to listen to us."

Kyros looked over at the men watching us. "I don't want to listen to you." He muttered as he stood.

What does he think we will get up to? The cart is small and well Kyanite is already spoken for. He walked to the fire and laid out a blanket. Kyanite lifted me into the cart and climbed in after me. I sat at one end and watched Kyanite possessively run his hand through his hoard. He breathed out slowly as if touching it was a compulsion.

"Kyanite?"

He opened his eyes and they had changed to be reptilian again. Not hard but relieved. "I wouldn't have lost or taken any."

He smiled and nodded. "I know that Reina. That is why I left it with you. When I did leave I felt the need to hold it again. It's a Dragon thing."

I smiled. "I think you have a problem."

He grinned and nodded. "I don't know if I would call it a problem.... it does feel like a compulsion, but it feels nice too." He put them back in his bag and laid down with his head on it.

He patted the cart bed next to him. I came closer to him but stayed sitting up. "Kyanite let me look at your wound."

He nodded and lifted his shirt. He had a fresh bandage and I pulled it aside to look at the wound. It looked angry but better than it had.

I laid down next to him with my head on his bag and he covered me with the fur blanket. "We can rest properly now Reina." He said softly.

I nodded looking up at the leather tent.

Kyanite rolled over on his side facing away from me. I smiled and did the same. Safe at last... at least until those humans catch up.

I yawned as all the sleep I had missed from the rocking of the cart over the bumpy ground court up with me. It was easy to feel safe with Kyanite's warmth up against my back.
