Eric walked away from Reina's waggon and I hurried to catch him. "Is she alright?"
Eric laughed. "She's fine she just overdid it a bit. Kyanite is looking after her." I sighed as Eric moved off to sit by one of the fires. "You two are very protective of her."
"We are. You know I think Kyanite may be falling for her and she reminds me of someone I lost."
Eric looked at me and nodded. "You must have loved them very much."
"I did."
Eric stopped walking and took my hand. "You should talk about it Kyros. Come with me and we will..."
I took my hand from his glaring at him. "I don't just talk about things because you want to stick your nose in my business!"
I turned from him and walked in the opposite direction so I could cool off. Finding myself wandering further from the carts than I intended, I stopped. I looked back at them and sighed.
"I'm not the only one that needs to be alone then." I jumped spinning at the voice near me.
Tiger was sitting looking out over the land from behind a large rock. "Sorry, I didn't know you..."
He shook his head. "Don't be sorry for needing to be alone."
Tiger gestured to the village and I saw the movement on the outskirts as the people he had sent were digging. "I too needed to be alone. The humans are afraid of us and yet here we are giving their dead more respect than they give themselves." There was a wealth of sadness in his words.
"I can't possibly understand why they would do that." I growled.
Tiger laughed. "Fear and hatred for the things they can't understand. Humans are animals too... not that they see that." He stood and looked at the carts and wagons behind me. "You disagree with finding a home for us?"
"Whenever we gather the humans come and kill us."
Tiger nodded and put his hands on his hips. "We have gathered as groups of what we are. There is a group of pray with me that have been together their whole lives. Then there is Wolf and Hawk they have stuck together, and you are right the humans always come for us. I have to admit I was not sure about this but after spending time with that female Rat and some of the other prey animals that banded together, I've seen the way they can help. I think if we can put our differences aside we can resist the humans."
Tiger patted my shoulder. "Come and eat with the people I brought. Maybe you will see that we can do this if we come together."
He started walking back and I fell in alongside him.
