Chapter 14

To say I am nervous would be an understatement. It's finally Friday and in a few hours I have a date with Zack.
Why did I even agree to this. I am not ready for this. I blame Damien coming back into my life.
I would rather spend my Friday with my kids like I always do.
Maybe I should cancel the date.
Before I can even type out a message my phone rings and it's Mia, surprisingly.

Mia: hey sistaaa!

Jess: why do you like dragging words out again, you know I hate it when you do that

Mia: And that's exactly why I enjoy doing that. Annoying you is honestly what I live for.

Jess: we are not 10 years anymore you know.

Mia: yeah, whatever, anywho back to why I called. So what are you wearing for your date, and also when are we going to address the elephant in the room?

Jess: I'm thinking of cancelling, I'm not really up for it, and dating is really hard with kids.

Mia: you haven't made a genuine connection with any guy for the past 6 years. It's like you are afraid, but you need to take that leap of faith and hope for the best. I understand you got burnt before but not everyone will be like that waste of space

Jess: talking about the waste of space, heisbackinthekidslives

Mia:slow down, I didn't get the last part.

Jess: Ummm, well, Damien knows about the twins and he is in the lives. Don't kill me!!I didn't have a choice

Mia: well I spoke to Carrie yesterday, well she called to tell me she was with her daddy. So I already know sista. But honestly be careful with him. I know you now more mature and not naive anymore.

Jess: I should have known she long called you. I need to put a password on the telephone honestly😂😂

Mia: Don't you dare, how else am I going to know when I'm needed by my minions
Jess: I don't even know what to wear

Mia: now I know you are just looking for excuses. There are so many clothes in your closet. Wear that black body hugging dress with the low neckline.

Jess: ahhh, how about no. I am not trying to look sexy for anyone. So that one is out.

Mia: okay fine, do you even know where you are going? So we decide after we know the place.

Jess: umm he said I should wear comfortable clothes so I have no idea what to wear.

Mia: well how about those black leather pants with the red top we bought last time you agreed to go shopping with me

Jess: I guess that could work. Well i have to go now Mia. Let's talk later and also can you do me a favour. An hour after I arrive at the date can you call me so I have an excuse to leave if I'm not having fun.

Mia: okay fine, but I'm sure it will be just fine. You are honestly overthinking this Jessica. Anyway
you got this.

I go downstairs to check on the kids and they are watching cocomelon on Netflix. There is something about cocomelon that is addictive to our kids honestly.
They started watching the channel on YouTube when they were not even a year and to date they still ask to watch it.
Right now I'm just waiting for Damien to come so I can leave.
"DJ, Carrie promise me you guys are going to behave today. No stressing your father out right? When I come back I'm going to ask him if you guys were good, if I find out that you where giving a problem we are not going out for ice cream this weeken," I say.

"Mummy even if we don't go it's fine. Daddy is bringing ice cream we already asked him over the phone," Carrie says.
Ofcourse she always has to have the last word. I wonder who she takes after.

"Well, i will tell him not to give you any if you don't behave," I say back.

"Okay mummy," Dj responds.

My phone chymes and it's a text from Jake with GPS locations. This feels like a scene from wrong turn or something.
Just then the door bell rings, well guess Damien is here. I rush to the door.

"Hie, you look really beautiful," he says.

"Umm, thanks, well I better go, also the twins are watching cocomelon in the living room. I see you the brought am ice cream tub Carrie mentioned. We'll make sure they have some after eating and if I'm late have then brush their teeth before they sleep. I already bathed them so all that's left is their teeth,"

"Jess I got this okay, Sooo, where are you and the mystery guy going anyway?" He asks.

"I don't know. I'm not being sassy or sarcastic I really don't know. I just got GPS directions to feed into the car thats that" I say.

From the way he is looking at me I can see he doesn't like that and neither do I.

"Can you text me the coordinates then so I know where you are. It's always best when someone knows where you are always. I promise I won't budge in or anything," he says while smiling at me.

"Okay fine, here they are," I show him the directions.

He then feeds them into his phone

"Ohhh it's a garden type restaurant, I once went there and you do need coordinates to get there since it's pretty low key. Well I hope you date goes well. Now let me go greet the twins," he says.

"Bye guys," I say from the door.

"Bye mama, have fun" DJ says.

Aww my sweet little boy, he is such a gentle and sweet soul. He definitely takes after me.well let me get going it's already 1730hrs and we are meeting at 1830hrs.

After 45minutes I arrive at the restaurant and I'm glad I dressed up because I would have stood out.
Before I can even call Jake, I see his text saying I should get in and that he is waiting in line by the door.
Okay, that's creepy how did he even know I was already here.
Anyway I'm already here so I might as well see this through. I check my makeup in the mirror to see if it needs any touch ups.
I text Mia the location I am at and also to remind her of the favour.
Well it's now or never.
