CHAPTER 15

Damien's POV

I dont know why I have this deep fear deep in many stomach. I feel like somethin bad is going to happen and I honestly hate the feeling.
Is it that Jessica is going on a date later on today and I'm jealous or is my sixth sense telling me something might happen to her.

It's almost time for me to head out to her house. I love that she trusts me enough to leave me with the kids. This is progress however I still do not know exactly what I want from her in the future.
I don't think I'm ready to be committed to any female right now but I do love my kids and I want to be in their lives forever.

I honestly didn't know such love existed, such unconditional love, it's a shame I met them when they were big and I missed every milestone.
But I can't even blame her since it was fault she left. So all I can do is make it up to my kids.
Kids.i have two kids, that's amazing.
While I'm driving to Jessica's house my phone rings and I see it's my brother.

Damien: it's good that you called, I have a bone to pick with you.

Dayton: what did I do this time around brother?

Damien: what did you say to the mother of my children?

Dayton: now calm down, it wasn't anything deep.

Damien: bro, I am lucky she is even allowing me in their lives and I do not want to mess that up

Dayton: well she actually can't keep you away from them to begin with. It's against the law, I just wanted to let her know not to mess with us

Damien: I do not want to be on bad terms with the mother of my kids. It won't do any of us any good at the end of the day. First all you are not a family lawyer so calm so pants down. I have everything under control. I still have to ask her if I can take the kids for the weekend so they can meet their grandparents. And I need to trend carefully. So dont ever call her again if you're going to threaten her.

Dayton: dammnn you are so weeped. Pass by my house before you go to our parent's house okay. I want to see them too but I don't want to go to our house. I'm tired of always being asked when I'm getting married and you showing up with 2 kids doesn't really help my case at all. Now the pressure just got worser. Thanks

Damien: well you are welcome and you deserve it. You brought different girls home every weekend so obviously they want you to settle down

Dayton: you changed girls too a lot more than I do infact.

Damien: Yeah but I never brought them home. That's where you failed brother. Anyway why did you call me?

Dayton: can't I just call my dear brother?

Damien: yeah funny, hell would freeze over before you call me with no particular motive.

Dayton: okay well can you lend me your vacation house next weekend. I would take her to mine but it kind of burnt to the ground.

Damien: what do you mean burnt to the ground?

Dayton: okay I guess I'm exaggerating a bit. There was a fire and I'm still trying to renovate it.

Damien: and you want to burn mine now?

Dayton: look you are blowing things out of proportion. Can you lend it to me or not. You are even lucky I'm asking since I already know where the keys are. So just appreciate the gesture and say yes.

Damien: Fine, but don't you dare break anything. Everything there is valuable.

Dayton: I'm not 5 years old you know.

Damien: well bye I'm almost at Jess's house.

Dayton: you really are a whole father to two kids. I would have ran the other way honestly how do you do it.

Damien: bro I'm just as shocked. But knowing you have kids changes something in you. Anyway I'm babysitting today so I need to get there on time.

Dayton: okay I'm out yeah?have fun.

I end the call since I'm already at her house. Since I'm still feeling uneasy about Jess going out I call one of my buddies who owns a security company to ask for a favour. I know it's wrong but sometimes you have to listen to your gut. If nothing happens then it would be my bad.
I just need to know where she is going so I can send my buddy where to send one of his man.

After she leaves I send the details to my friend and after 45minutes he gives me the name and number of the guy he sent.
And thank God he is already there.
He tells me he got there in time to see Jessica getting out of her car.

I ask him to get into the restaurant so he sees everything that is going on and to update me if anything happens.

I check on the kids to see if they need anything and they are still invested in their show. .I head to the kitchen to make a light snack for them. Also I did promise them ice cream so I quickly search for bowls for the icecream

"Dad?" DJ calls out
I can never get enough of hearing them call me dad

"Yess, DJ?" After I finish scooping the icecream into three bowls I carry them to the living room.

" so when are we going to your house"

" well anytime but we have to ask your mom first okay."

"Okay daddy, but do you have enough rooms for mama, me and Carrie?"

Ohhh so even their mother will be joining us, interesting

"I have a lot of rooms. If you want you guys don't even have to share a room when you come to my house"

" Damien has nightmares daddy so we have to share our bedroom so I can scare the monsters away."

"That's not true papa, Carrie is afraid of the dark so I'm the one protecting her"
If I don't stop this banter it's going to go on for ever and ever. I have known them for a short period but I already know how they are.
They still want to share a room, that's good.
The other room can be their gaming room or a play room for all their toys.

"Well here are your ice cream bowls, I did promise you guys icecream"

"Yesss!!" They shout harmoniously

Just as I'm about to sit down I get a call and when I check the caller it's the guy I hired.
Before I even answer I know something bad must have happened.

"Talk to me, what happened?"
