"It's cool that Chazz is rooming with us until he gets his new room built, but why am I sleeping in the same bed as her?!" My comment made Chumley poke fun at me, "What never been with a girl before, Jaden? You must've been popular in middle school with how cute Mindy and Jasmine say you are." My head shook hard, "Nope! All the girls at my school usually avoided me because of how duel crazy I came off." Chumley sighed, "Of course you did, but you like her right?" A sigh left me, "That's the understatement of the year, Chum. I can't help but be drawn towards her ever since I got her card and gave it back to her." It had been a few days since we returned from the ruins where Banner activated them by accident, causing the guardian of them to duel me for trespassing. Myself only being saved because Liz had helped me in a duel after she was turned into a spirit, giving me tips on how to use the trap cards she gave me against Yasmin's owner, a duelist from a tribe of Gravekeepers that was to punish grave robbers by burying them alive.

"Just tell her how you feel. I always tell my grilled cheeses how I feel before I eat them." He earned a glare from me, "That's not exactly how confessions to someone you like work, Chumley." The doorknob jiggled as Chazz walked in with Liz, "Heya!! We're back, and I brought more pillows from my dorm before Dimitri saw me!" She threw them down at Chazz's bed then sat on the end of mine with the last pillow, "So, do you have a particular side of the bed you like or is either okay with you?" My face turned red as i told her, "Any side is good, but um...fair warning I tend to toss and turn in my sleep." She gave a soft smile, "That's okay, I'm a deep sleeper." She laid down on the other side of my bed while grabbing a book she left, by the side of where she was sleeping the other night on the floor, "I almost forgot about this." It seemed to be important to he so I didn't ask as she turned with her face looking at me, "Night, Jay." She closed her eyes and began dozing off as I laid stiff because I didn't know what to do, "Tell her how you feel." Chumley whispered as I shook my head.

'I should just try to get some sleep for tonight, that is if I can.'

"You want us to take the last two keys?" Shepperd wanted to make Liz and I the last two key keepers after giving the rest to Chazz, Bastion, Zane, Alexis, Bastion. "I'll protect it, Chancellor." She told him while taking the key from him, making me take the last one and promise Shepperd the same, "Good. You two head off to class now." She walked next to me a little slowly as we headed off to Crowler's lecture, "We have to be prepared Jaden, so I want you to keep those cards I gave you." She showed me her duplicates as well as some new cards, "I got myself covered." Her confidence was through the roof when it came to dueling, as well as the new responsibility we had because of the Shadow Riders, "You need to take it seriously okay? The three god cards were helpful to my dad but we can't let anyone else get ahold of them." While it was a little hard for me to understand, I knew that I didn't want any of the Shadow Riders to battle Liz, because she'd be at risk and she was already a big target due to her parents. 

[A couple hours later]

"Are you worried?" Her question snapped me from my thoughts as we ended up in a duel against Nightshroud that night, "Because I'm not, I know that I can do this." She faced Nightshroud down with a grin, "Let's do this, jerk."

"Don't worry, Sy...Chum! I'll get you guys free after I beat this creep." Drawing my card, he smirked as I set down four cards, and set Kidmodo Dragon face down in defense position. "I end my turn!" He summoned a monster in face up defense, which allowed him to summon another of the same monster after I destroyed it with one of my trap cards, "Grr.....I draw!" He attacked my Kidmodo Dragon which allowed me to summon my Luster Champion, "Go, Luster Champion (after fusing my three dragons), destroy his Red Eyes!!" It was sent to the graveyard as he growled and set another card face down, being backed into a corner due to my superior strategy. "I play two of my face down spell cards, Black Pendant!" Luster Champion grew stronger by a thousand attack points, "I end my turn with two more face down cards!" 

He drew while angrily drawing and summoning a card that made Red Eyes attack a spell card, "Ghhh!" My life points dropped from four thousand to sixteen hundred, "I draw!" Summoning Ice Dragon Lancer in defense position, I smirked as I played my drawn spell card, "I activate Polymerization!" Destroying both spells, his life points dropped to six hundred as I fusioned summoned a strong monster, "Go! Dragon Lancer Champion of Ice!" His smirked faded to a look of terror as I took advantage of his open field, "Direct attack! Take him out, Dragon Lancer Champion!!" Nightshroud screamed as his soul was sealed in the card, his mask falling off to reveal Atticus Rhodes, Alexis's missing brother. "Hey!" I caught him before he fell over as he started coming to, "Are you okay, Atticus?" His face turned red as he muttered, "...I've...been saved....by an...angel..." I dropped him on the ground as Alexis caught him, "Yeah, I think he's fine." 

Jaden glared at him while coming to my side, "Tell your brother to keep his hands off my best friend, Alexis." I smacked him on the back, "Jaden, I might be your friend but I can still talk to guys." The next shadowrider came right after, by the name of Camula who wanted revenge on mankind for exterminating her race out of fear and discrimination, when they never bothered them. "Jaden is still out cold after you nearly lost, but you'll need to take care of him while we deal with Camula." Zane had told me after I was hospitalized in the infirmary with Jaden, who had fainted after the close call I had with the shadow realm. "I don't know if I'll be able to keep him hear once he hears about it though." Sitting up in bed, I was rudely met with a vampire bat that shadowrider no doubt sent to spy on us, but I was smarter than that to check my deck in such a serious situation. "Spear Dragon." I called the spirit forward from my deck, and it nodded, "Geraaa?" 

"Spy on their duel and report back to me on who wins. I'll step in if I need to and bring Jaden too." Spear Dragon went off to spy on the duel and sent what it saw to my PDA, "Crowler's losing bad guys. I might have to go there myself, no matter how much pain I'm in." Jaden woke up and refused to let me leave, because of the amount of pain I was in after battling Nightshroud. "Jaden, I may not have a choice and I need you to trust me." Forcing myself to get up, I plucked a card without exposing it's face and added it to my deck, in order to defeat Camula. "Let's go, bring me there Chumley." Jaden refused again while blocking Chumley's path, "Why won't you just let me go Jaden!" He shouted in response, "Because I care about you more than I probably should and I don't want to lose you!!!" My face turned red as he told me, "Listen....I...I like you a lot. So the fact that we have to deal with this world ending threat, and the fact that you can't step down from it...the risk of losing you...it all just hurts." 

My heart felt like it was about to stop, "...Jaden..." I muttered, while looking at him and throwing myself off Chumley's back, tackling him to the ground. "Why couldn't you have just said that earlier, you dork?!" I wailed a little as I felt tears prick my eyes, "I feel the same way, so stop talking like I'm going to die! I'm not losing to anyone, and if I ever do...then it will be against you and no one else!" My tears still slipped down my face, as I clung onto Jaden who lifted me up, "Let's go there. You'll need to help Crowler and Zane." I smiled while wrapping my arms around his neck while on his back, "Yeah, let's!"
