A Fanatical Darkness

"Wait, your darkness rising monsters and Darkness monsters are actually light types?" I asked Liz as she nodded, "They're technically just dark anti hero alter egos to my typical line up. Unless I let Yubel duel in which case they turn into Dark types." She added while pointing at me, "But they are not the same darkness as Trueman, that is an entirely different entity." I was about to ask her which one until SP jumped in, "She means that the Nightshroud who took over Atticus wasn't just an alter ego of his, it is an entirely separate entity who rules over the World of Darkness." Yubel took control of Liz, as her eye changed to green, "And that world is where your friends spirits are being held and why they are unable to return." Liz took back control as Yubel popped out in her spirit form, "That's why Yusuke rubbed me the wrong way, because he's a duel monster parading as his master. Odds are that the real Yusuke has been under Nightshroud's influence ever since he was taken to the World of Darkness from the abandoned dorm."

She inspected the feather that Yusuke had left behind after vanishing, "From what Atticus has described, the real Yusuke was the perpetrator of the Abandoned Dorm incident in conjunction with Banner when he first joined up with the Shadow Riders." Pulling her along after I decided to leave the school with her, she sighed as we waited for our ride out of there, "We don't cause trouble Jay, trouble just always seems to find us." She gave me her classic cheeky smile, even as we were told to meet with Sartorius who had news regarding the recent events with Kagemaru, "We have a favor to ask you twp. No matter if you've already dropped out, we need you to stop the World of Darkness." Sartorius detailed when he received a sign about the coming events, especially after he lost the ability to see the future with Kagemaru sharing the same sentiment, that darkness was about to erupt all over Duel Academy. "An explosion of darkness? While I  would normally call that blasphemy, I can also sense the same thing. Which is why I was against our leaving, Jay." 

They sweat a little as she glared at me but she told them, "We will deal with this incident for you, just leave now before it's too late you two!!" My duel disk activated as i faced down Trueman again for Liz, who was making sure the Chairman and Sartorius got out safely. "Let's duel, go Luster Champion!!" She shouted and had Yubel make it blast gem fire at Trueman, "So you two are powerful enough to do that in this dimension? How curious..." Allowing me to handle the duel myself, Liz had turned her body into a spirit form with Yubel's help and watched the duel from above, "Jaden!!" She shouted while using her power to make sure I didn't fall to my doom, creating a platform with her power and another for herself to land on, "Take him out, Jay!!"

Finishing him off, my friend told me that Yusuke Fujiwara like Lisetta had said, went missing during the abandoned dorm incident orchestrated in part by Professor Banner. With reports from when he attended having noted that he was ranting, and shouting about how he had found absolute power in darkness while waving around the same mask, that Atticus wore as Nightshroud of the Shadow Riders. "We have to save Atticus....Alicia will kill me if I don't!!" She wailed as I hauled her on my back after Honest who was in disguise as Yusuke, tried to interrogate Atticus to no avail with Axel saving him from being hurt. "Oh thank goodness, I'm saved from Alicia's royal ass kicking!!" She thanked Axel repeatedly as said teen sat by Atticus's side, since he was the only person she had left after Zane died of heart failure in the alternate dimension courtesy of his underworld deck. "He needs quiet, so do try to keep your voices down in hear like Axel." 

Her glare even shut me up as Axel explained why he was there with the same explanation that he gave earlier, "He was working on some weird power project with Darkness as reports from back then detail. So whoever is masquerading as the current Yusuke is either helping or is against Trueman." Later on as I dangled Banned in a bag over the toilet, he finally spilled the beans about how only Atticus knew some details regarding Fujiwara's secret project, but he had no other ideas as to why Fujiwara would covet such a dangerous power. "Why should I duel you?" Liz later asked after Atticus demanded she do so in the abandoned dorm arena, donning the mask of Nightshroud in order to remember the night that Yusuke brought darkness to the island. "I'll duel you." Taking her place, I summoned Clayman while setting a card face down but Atticus showed no signs of remembering his memories, as the true Nightshroud overtook him. 

"I remember." He told us after the duel about Yusuke's superiority to him and Zane, and how it led him to be consumed by Darkness after he gave up his soul following his fanaticism with it, and how it consumed him and the whole dorm as a price with Atticus's infamous mask being the only souvenir from him. "He died after being taken over by darkness, so the one you've been seeing is Honest a duel monster who was in Yusuke's possession." Liz stated as the impostor Fujiwara was near, "Because his fanaticism lead to his death and you can't believe that, you want to figure out the truth." She smirked as Honest made his presence known, "Isn't that right, Honest?"
