Darkness's Endgame

"Everyone aside from you vanished, Seto?" My question made my uncle grunt in confirmation, after he saw Mokuba disappear right in front of his eyes after being swarmed by his cards, "Your father and mother are safe but Solomon, Tea, Mai, and Tristan vanished as well. Joey is searching for Serenity right now but chances are she vanished as well." My hand shook in anger after I realized my investigations into the spirit world were useless, "How could I have...allowed him to....everyone...they're.....STOP THIS NOW, NIGHTSHROUD!!!!" Seto tried to get me to calm down, but my eyes reverted to Yubel's colors as I felt Jaden tap into his SP powers, "I'm going to the city, don't let anyone follow me Spear Dragon." My spirit nodded while using a spell to seal off the island, as I fled toward the city to get to Axel who had contacted Jaden, who was no doubt also enroute to the city. 'You better not do anything stupid until we arrive, Brodie.' 

[Domino City]

"Back away from him, Trueman!!" Axel heard my voice and ran behind me as Trueman cornered us, "I will be handsomely rewarded for bring such an esteemed person like yourself, to our grand cause." My growl didn't phase him as my powers prevented him from harming Axel or myself, "I summon Luster Champion in attack position and Fusion summon Dragon Lancer Champion of the Ice!!" Having been backed into a corner, Axel ended up having to take over for me in spite of my protests for him to run, and was corrupted by the darkness that Trueman managed to find within him. "Axel!!!!" Trueman knocked me out shortly after, and when I woke up, I was dangling in the air as Jaden dueled against a creepier looking Nightshroud. "Jaden!!" My eyes still had Yubel's colors as he gazed at me with yellow eyes, "You need to run!!" They reverted back as Trueman tried to infect darkness into me, "Graaaahhhhkkk!!! Stop it!!!! HAKKKK!!!" 

The pain was too much and it felt like I was being ripped apart but I had no way to escape from my binds, "Liz, please....hold on for me!!" That was the first time, I actually felt something when he said my nickname following our return, having felt empty due to the recombination to Yubel who should have been with me from the start. "....Beat his ....ass for...me!!..." He smiled as I felt my feisty and energetic soul come back, which helped me resist the pain along with Yubel who was pushing our shared energy into where, the darkness was trying to enter. "You can't save her, you'll all give way to the World of Darkness!!!" Nightshroud roared while continuing to play against Jaden, until Jesse saved me so he could focus on the duel. 'He can do it, I know he can. Because no one is impervious to justice.' Flinging my Luster Champion into his deck before Jess hauled me away, Jay gave me one last glance as I finally felt myself genuinely smile.

"How dare you erase our friends!!" Alexis shouted, as she dueled against Nightshroud (Yusuke) in a rage after he vanished her brother, meeting the same fate and being enveloped in darkness as he searched for the missing Lisetta. Her body being the perfect conduit for him to truly take form as a human, to invade other places as well once he finished up with Japan, and to spite Jaden who would be the only human left to witness his dear woman become the leader of Darkness once more. "What did you do?!" Jaden confronted Yusuke after he reappeared at Duel Academy where he had stored Liz at their dorm, in a locked room that was through a trap door in Chazz's old room. "You're not getting anywhere near her!!!" Summoning Neos to deal with Yusuke, Jaden was witness to his effect deck that dealt extra non-monster battle damage, per every card he had in his hand, graveyard, face down on the field, or ones he even planned to draw respectively. "Keyrraaaiiihhh!!" Spear Dragon's spirit had appeared to block Yusuke from reading Jesse's mind, "How dare you, you pathetic whelp!!!" 

Clear Golem had whacked the dragon spirit aside which made it groan while landing at Jaden's feet, turning into a card again that had been flying around in a spirit form, after Liz was knocked unconscious. "Spear Dragon, what are you doing away from Liz?" It groaned while being picked up by Jaden, who cradled its spirit as it showed him its memories of being with Liz, being with her since she was seven and enjoying protecting her as she grew up. "You must......ensure....that.....Yusuke....." It started going limp as it lost its ability to speak, "....sees....error..of...ways..." It stopped talking and Jaden knew what he had to do, "Live on inside me, Spear Dragon. Your duty to protect Liz, is now mine...rest well." Vanishing within me, its card glimmered as I held it and added it to my deck, "I activate Spear Dragon's effect!" Summoning it onto the field, after using Hero Barrier to stop Vice Clear Dragon Fiend from attacking, I held out against the damage calculation then smirked. "All the damage that I took it dealt twice over as a dampening effect on however many attack points your dragon gets next from its effect!" 

"Noooo!!!" He lost the duel in epic fashion as he growled in anger at having lost to fools who believed in bonds, and friendships because of his own which were merely face value, accept for the one he had with Atticus and Zane. The Darkness that he had sampled, making him forget everyone and his deep seated pain from not wanting to be forgotten, which was why he did what he did. "Is it over?" Liz had woken up in the past with Jaden behind her, "Where are we, Jay?"
