Chapter 25: Weak

Jennie POV

Today is the first trial in the Tae case. I need to excuse myself from my morning classes to give support for my fiancee. I don't get the Kim and Jung family; they have the guts to appeal to the law. The Manoban family is a victim of what their sons did. They think highly of themselves. They are so brave because they have a lot of influence and power. The Manoban family is only requesting their apologies and settlement charges. They don't want to put this thing in court. I feel pity again for Lisa and for her mom. They need expenses to proceed with this thing in court. They need to hire lawyers. And that's very frustrating for them, who lack finances.

My mother and father are talking with Tae's parents. Haein and his parents are already here too. We are all here, but the defendants, Tae and Haein, are not here. I called Tae, but the line was busy.

Where are you, Tae?

I stop thinking when I see Lisa's mother walking inside the courtroom. We all become silent. Then I see Lisa walking behind her mother's back. She looks so lazy and sleepy. She's not minding her surroundings. She immediately slouched on the chair and started closing her eyes. Her mother is persuading her to not sleep, but she is still just closing her eyes and leaning her head on her mother's shoulder.

Did she not sleep again? She is such a hardheaded duck. That's not good for her. She can get diseases with her lifestyle. And she looks like she's not feeling well. Later, I will buy her vitamins.

I am calling on Tae, but he didn't answer. The hearing will start in five minutes. I thought only Lisa and her mother would I see, but in a minute, the supporters of them are multiplying. I see Rosé with her father. I am so envious that their family has connections.

Mr. Park looks like a father to Lisa. He is tapping Lisa's head to wake up. I am so shocked to see Irene too; she's with a woman that I am not familiar with.
That woman is giving Lisa a coffee, and she's very polite to Lisa's mother. What's happening to my two best friends, they are on Lisa's side.

The officials are starting to get mad because there are many people who want to get inside. But the rooms are so full now. I think they want to support Lisa's mother today.

The judge is starting to speak now.

Order on the court. We will start now with the case, but may I ask where the defendants are, Kim Taehyung and Jung Haein, right now?

The attorney answered, Judge, the two defendants are not arriving.

"Well, we need to proceed now, and if they fail to attend today's pre-trial, the plaintiff has a chance to show and share all the evidence they have. Then we will make a warrant of arrest for the defendant after the plaintiff proves that those two defendants are guilty today".

The Kim family and the Jung family are so nervous. They are so stressed and worried. This situation didn't sync with what was happening in my mind. I call Tae many times. I am worried about him.

What happened to you, Tae?

They might be put into jail after this hearing. Where are they? Aaaahhh..

We feel nervous when I see Lisa's mom walking to the judge, and it looks like she wants to ask for permission to talk to us.

And she's going now in our direction. Lisa immediately followed her mom.

A: Hello, my daughter told me late, that the two defendants are her schoolmates. I don't want to snatch their good future because of my selfishness. I'm really so sorry for all of you. I know Lisa did something wrong too; that's why your sons reacted that way.

Lisa is just looking at her. She didn't say anything.

We're surprised why she's apologizing.

A: I told my daughter to withdraw this case. But she really doesn't want to be defeated in any fight.
And I don't want this case to be a long journey. I will withdraw the case because your sons need a second chance. And I am hoping that you can give them good guidance after this. And we, as parents,  they really need our understanding.
