"No, cut to your left, not your right."
"Keep your sword hand high and confident."
"If he's lunging forward, he's desperate."
"Note how I always keep one foot on the ground to stabilize."
Milori cursed silently as he watched his new recruits give their initiation spars, yelling out reminders here and there.
Any fairy wishing to become a winter soldier needed to pass a series of tests to be enlisted.
These tests included military terminology, history, physical and mental strengthening, as well as agility tests.
After all, there was a reason the winter militia had steadily become one of the best and most feared standing armies in Neverland.
Their vast numbers and intensive training ensured that they would remain so in the future too.
But Milori would be lying if he said that watching the new recruits didn't bring tears to his eyes.
It was a wonder some of these young men even survived childhood with the basic instincts now being showcased.
Hell, he bet Avalon could hold her own better than some of these men and she was 12.
Pacing back and forth calmly along the outskirts of the training field, Milori continued to observe.
It was tradition for Milori to instruct and give blessings on the enlisting days, one of the few military events he still attended ever since he passed most of those duties to his officers.
He would never regret the time he was able to spend with Avalon now that he had freed up his schedule... however maybe he should oversee at least one daily training...
Wincing, he watched as a boy tripped over his own feet, the sword in both his hands almost too heavy for him too fully lift.
As though in slow motion, Milori watched him slowly fall forward, the momentum making him drop his hold on the sword to prepare for his fall.
This in turn caused the sword to flip and Milori felt horror overtake him when he realized what was about to happen.
The sword was going to impale his chest.
Without hesitating, Milori blew into his hand- a frosty gust of flurries that then sailed towards the young man, blowing him to the side and ensuring he fell into snow, not on top of his sword.
Breathing out a sigh of relief, Milori was about to go berate the shocked fairy when all of a sudden a voice interrupted him from behind.
"Majesty, a word if you please."
Turning towards the masculine voice, Milori's eyes fell upon Skye.
'Good god, not now' Milori thought absently.
Giving the ranger a stiff smile, Milori waved him off.
"Perhaps another time Skye, I'm in the middle of evaluating trainings."
He had not seen or heard of any news surrounding Skye, or Ashe for that matter, since he had found their records to be falsified or in the very least, altered.
For all he knew, Skye was also a determining factor in Clarion's departure and he was in no mood for games at the moment.
Making a move to turn back towards the training field, Skye's words halted him once again.
"This will only take but a few minutes, your highness, and I feel it is important to say."
Milori sighed, but nodded, trying to remind himself that he had turned a new leaf and needed to be accesible to everyone.
"Go on then."
