Milori whistled quietly as he finished gathering flowers.
His dream from a few nights ago had given him multiple epiphanies.
And one of the least important ones was that it had been forever since he had visited the prairie fields that lined one of the borders between Pixie Hollow and the Winter Realm.
It was also symbolic as this was one of the first places he had taken Clarion on a date.
He could only assume that was why it was where she broke down in the dream.
Thankfully, this part of the flower patch was quiet, only the sound of lazy bumble bees could be heard flying overhead.
He had been worried the light fairies would be here- picking sun spots, but he had been very happy to find it blessedly quiet.
Whistling louder, he frowned as he concentrated on tying a ribbon around the bouquet he picked and tried not to jostle the flowers.
He had healed remarkably since the bunny riding incident, however his injured arm still seemed to shake every now and then.
Sunflowers were Clarion's favorite.
Pulling out a pen and paper from his pocket, he wrote his greeting and invitation.
He had just been informed earlier that Clarion signed and filed their divorce documents, however it took nearly 9 months for a royal marriage to be legally dissolved in Neverland.
So the math was that he really had 9 more months before it was truly over.
9 more months to upend their world so that Clarion would realize she was his world.
His plan had been to originally insert himself slowly back into her life.
This would be in the form of sending her flowers weekly, doing little favors she needed done, coming up with a better custody arrangement for Avalon and so on.
Oh and putting trade restrictions on the jungle realm.
That one wouldn't necessarily insert himself into Clarion's life more but it did make him feel better he reasoned.
But now he knew he needed to be more aggressive in his plan of attack.
He needed to shock her so badly that she'd realize she didn't know this new Milori- the one who let desperation and need fuel him now rather than pride and success.
He needed to do something not even he himself knew he was capable of doing until a month ago.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, he looked up to see his beautiful daughter coming towards him.
She came to a stop with excitement in her eyes.
"Did you do it? Did you remind mom to come to my ballet recital?"
Milori scoffed, "You think she needs to be reminded about anything when it comes to you? I'm sure it's been in her calendar since you first mentioned it like a year ago."
Avalon waved a hand in the air, "Yes but with all that's happened I just want to make sure."
Milori nodded, looking back down at his letter.
It was odd having Avalon know about his failure with Clarion yet oddly freeing as well.
In the time since she had left him, Avalon had slowly become his best friend.
Some parents would disagree with a statement like that or say it was impossible but they'd be wrong.
At some point he'd gone from being a strict, distant father to becoming an awesome dad.
And he had Clarion to thank for that.
He might have been forced into that role but it was one he was never giving up.
It happened at the perfect time too.
Avalon was getting older and for once in his life he could say he was right here seeing her grow.
He hadn't been the best father so far for Avie but he could be what she needed now.
"Tell her to wear her prettiest dress and ask if we can go out to dinner as well."
Avalon ended this request with a little twirl, a prelude to her routine she'd be doing for the Royal Winter Ballet Company program in just a few days.
His baby was a natural too.
Milori grinned, "We'll see if she even accepts my letter first."
Avalon rolled her eyes, "Just put my name in big letters along the front and she will."
Milori shrugged, hating that she was probably right.
Regardless, progress was progress and Clarion had not even responded to one letter he'd sent so far- but he had a good feeling about this one.
Clarion was not only a sucker for their daughter but they had also seemed to enter into an amicable silence since his hospital visit from the bunny riding incident.
Amicable silence vs hostile silence was way better in his opinion.
But he wouldn't settle for amicability.
Ruffling his daughter's hair, he sealed the letter and attached it to the flower bouquet.
All the while, Avalon's gaze tracked his movements and lingered on the bouquet.
Seeing the sparkle in her eyes, Milori couldn't help but tease.
"Oh you like these do you? Too bad you'll have to wait to get your own on recital night."
But all Avalon had to do was even slightly pout before he was quickly pulling the smaller, second bouquet out from his back pocket.
Instantly her eyes lit back up and Milori blew out a breath.
Her bouquet had its own little note as well and she read it aloud, 'For the future Queen of the Winter Realm. Whatever you set your mind to, you will accomplish it. Whether it's a ballet recital this week or ruling a kingdom in years to come.'
Avalon's eyes widened further and Milori hoped it wasn't too much for her.
But at the end of the day, she was getting older and it was time for him to start preparing her, not just Ashe, for what was to come.
He knew there would be no better outcome too than his daughter taking over one day.
All she could seem to do was nod and Milori chuckled inwardly.
Putting an arm around her he said, "C'mon, let's go see about getting a courier to take this other bouquet."
