He knew that glorious embrace from a glacier away.
Clarion.
He opened his eyes to see the most beautiful sight ever gifted to him.
The queen had taken off her coat, not caring about the near negative temperatures inside, and he was able to see her gorgeous glittering form.
He loved gold, he really did.
But only when it was on her.
She kept one arm around his broad chest and began to wave pixie dust over him.
He immediately began to struggle.
He would rather be eaten alive by his own snowy owl before he'd let her practically carry him!
Then he was gifted again by her soft and almost musical voice... never mind that it was admonishing.
"Milori, stop fighting me so much, you'll only make it worse for yourself."
She said this with a ghost of a smile hinting at her lips.
Lips he immediately had to look away from.
At this point, he was floating almost horizontally in the air - straight as a stick and about a couple feet off the ground.
She put her hand on his arm to guide him back to the bed and let the pixie dust do the rest.
"This is ridiculous! I can walk just fine on my own!" He protested.
And at that she did laugh, simultaneously raining heaven down upon his ears in the process.
Oh but he missed that, he thought, making her laugh even if he was the object of it.
"Yes, you made that quite clear on your own just a second ago didn't you", she replied.
He huffed as she finally released him and set him on the bed.
Immediately she pulled the covers out for him like he was some kind of invalid.
Afterwards she tried to walk away, most likely to have a discussion on his plight with the nurses, but he still hadn't had his say and he was not used to people, certain beautiful female people, disobeying his wishes.
As she began to turn, he sat up and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her back to the side of the bed, then did the same with his other.
Splaying both his hands on either side of her waist, he effectively trapped her.
He was now very thankful Fairy Mary had run out of the room to find help, at least that's what he supposed had happened to the tinker fairy.
She tried to pull away by putting both of her hands on his expansive chest to push but to no avail - she was no match for him when it came to strength.
Even in his weakened state.
'Oh how the tables have turned!' He gleefully thought.
"Milori, let me go, I have to see what condition your in." Queen Clarion all but pleaded.
She knew she would succumb to his charms again in one fell swoop if he didn't let her go soon.
She had not fallen out of love with him over the time they had spent apart, but she definitely realized that not being in his embrace had made acceptance of his rejection a lot easier during that said time.

Lord Milori didn't know what he was doing but he definitely liked it.
Standing, he was at least a foot taller than Clarion, but with their positions right now they were face to face... which made it easier to speak candidly to her, that's it.
He lied to himself.
Again he was reminded how they fit each other's bodies perfectly... her softness against his hard ridges was the perfect combination - like puzzle pieces really.
Mentally he shook his head and told himself to get on with it.
"Clarion you must go home. I don't need your help nor do I want it." He lied again.
He knew that his treatment could only be from the life source of a warm blooded royal but he would figure it out, surely she couldn't be the only option left.
Yes, distance was safe, distance was the key.
He saw a slash of pain overcome her face and he instantly hated himself for hurting her again.
She was always taking care of others, this being a testament, but who took care of her?
"Tough." She said, recovering quickly.
"This is not about what you want for once, this is about me being the only one who can save your stubborn self, and I will leave only when I complete that", she stated.
He realized in that moment that any other person would have gotten angry and yelled those words but she remained in her ever graceful, soft and determined demeanor.
He actually had no words for once, no commands.
Then gripping her tighter and pulling her even closer, he bit out,
"Well I wouldn't want to keep you from your newfound admirer today."
Confused, she frowned, to which he lightened his grip and in that moment she pulled away, breaking his strong grasp.
"Milori, who told you this nonsense?" She asked exasperated.
"I have no visits currently scheduled today except you!"
Then almost as though an afterthought she asked,
"Are... you jealous?"
She asked this with amusement (and secretly hope) lacing her voice.
He looked like Tinker Bell after getting caught before putting into action one of her hair-brained schemes.
Absolutely caught.
"Who said it wasn't important but I just thought that... I was... I am no-" , he continued to stammer on so Queen Clarion began to walk away to find one of the nurses.
"Your leaving?"
Lord Milori asked and betrayed, what she thought, was sadness in his voice.
"No", she responded,
"I'm going to do what I came here to do; speak to the nurses of your illness, give you what you need, discuss pressing matters we have ignored for too long and THEN leave." She said.
"We both have kingdoms to run and I for one will not fall to your indecisiveness again Milori."
With that she floated away and out the door, smiling.
Lord Milori sputtered and stammered some more, all the while admitting that it was in that moment he knew he still loved her.
Never had stopped.
