Clarion glided down the hallways determined to find at least one of Milori's caretakers.
She needed to get to the bottom of this fever so he could get better and so they could both move forward.
She shivered, regretting that she left without her coat, but goodness knows nothing in this ice wonderland could dim the fire in her heart that roared back to life at the sight of Milori.
But then again it had always been that way for her.
Clarion crossed another hallway and immediately heard whispers and giggles.
Spying a partially open doorway, she walked towards it hoping to find a few nurses to converse with over milori's predicament.
Right before pushing the door further open, she froze and smiled.
Fairy Mary and The Keeper were there looking cozy by a fire and enjoying each other's banter over which book was better.
Must be nice Clarion thought ruefully, but immediately realized she was very and truly happy for them.
Backing away slowly, she turned and almost ran into one of the nurses she was looking for.
"Oh my flurries your majesty, I'm so sorry!"
The young woman fairly trembled before Clarion.
Clarion put a finger to her lips and pulled the girl away from from the doorway.
"No worries, it was my fault for not looking carefully enough."
Clarion tried to give the girl her most reassuring smile and then remembered her mission.
"Please, tell me what Milor- I mean the Lord Of Winters' condition is, and what steps to take next in curing him."
The girl brightened, clearly relieved to have a familiar topic to discuss, however she soon frowned which worried the queen.
"I'm so sorry your highness, but the news I have is not good news. Unfortunately his majesty's fever was far more invasive than we first thought."
Panic washed through Clarion at the nurses' words.
"Well surely there is something we can do, I was told I would be of help and I know that my synergy is the one that can help him."
Yes, Clarion thought, surely the girl forgot that fairy royals were remarkable when it came to healing each other.
Whereas humans had blood, divinity fairies had synergies and one drop of it could fuel an entire village for at least a year.
"I'm - I'm sorry my queen, it's too late. The warmth went too deep this time, it's like frostbite but reverse. Unless we think of another way or find access to a royal life force he will not last much longer."
Though the panic had not left from the first news the nurse had given, Clarion still felt like she had just been slapped.
No, there had to be a way... what had the nurse said?
Life force?
Clarion had no idea what that entailed but she did know someone with a lot of knowledge and a lot of books.
The keeper.
