Milori had never been more grateful for a private, royal viewing box.
Being amongst his people was all well and good but sometimes he needed respite from the constant eyes upon him.
That and so he could sneak glances at his ex-wife without looking like a creep.
She was sitting next to him stiffly, scanning the crowds and stage below.
He could tell she was still annoyed with his comments about her being territorial, but he couldn't find a care when he was this happy. Jealous was good right?
It meant she still felt something for him surely.
Thinking, he tried to find a nuetral topic they could discuss that wouldn't lead to an arguement or her shutting down.
"I half expected you to bring Lord Adler tonight."
Cursing himself inwardly, he held his breath and tried to sound as nonchalant as possible.
Examining her closely, he watched as she paused for all of a second before she continued people-watching.
"And why is that?"
Huh... he didn't have a good answer to that.
Well not one that wouldn't make him sound like an asshole.
Still going for nonchalance, he shrugged.
"I don't know, he seemed to be a permanent fixture the last few times I saw you."
Milori had not even finished that sentence before he could see a ghost of a smile cross her lips.
"Now who's jealous?"
Milori let out a wry laugh, "Am not. I just know my rights. And one of those rights is I should never have to see you smile at another man."
Milori had been aiming for a lighthearted response but he could see it struck a chord within her.
"You have no rights, we are divorced Milori."
He shrugged at that, unaffected for once at the brutal reminder.
"Not by my choice. How easy it is for you to hold me to standards you yourself do not follow."
At this he quirked an eyebrow but she remained silent.
Not much longer a beautiful rendition of Swan Lake began and Milori shifted his focus to that rather than the last confusing hour.
Avalon deserved their undivided attention.

Standing to applaud, Milori couldn't keep the smile off his face- even if he tried.
Avalon did incredible and even had a small solo.
The entire audience buzzed with praise as they continued clapping while the young dancers took a bow.
Clarion met Milori's eyes and wordlessly he gave a tiny nod.
Blowing a breath into her hands, Clarion released a beautiful shower of pixie dust.
It fell like golden confetti and both the dancers as well as the onlookers stopped to look up in awe at the show.
Avalon's eyes immediately found theirs in that instant and Milori waved while Clarion blew her a kiss.
Again Milori couldn't help but marvel at how everything had changed so much, yet some things were still the same.
Their love and support for Avalon was one of those things that would never waiver.
Finally the clapping died down and they both made their way back outside where the dancers would be released.
Milori stood there and quickly thought on what he wanted to do.
He knew what Avalon would want; to go to dinner together.
He wanted that more than anything as well, but it didn't quite fit into his plans.
His plan that he and Clarion share dinner tomorrow night.
He could ask her to just go both times but he already had a feeling getting her to agree to be present at just one dinner was a stretch.
Even with Avalon as a motivator.
Shuffling his feet, he tuned out the waiting parents around them, trying to decide.
He was coming very close to running out of options in his quest to get Clarion back.
However he had one major playing card left to dole out and it was a doozy.
If this didn't work, he didn't know what he'd do.
Cry some more absolutely.
However he had very little doubt it wouldn't work- it represented everything that had driven a wedge between them and their marriage.
What had essentially doomed them from the start.
And Milori was done choosing sides, prioritizing one or the other as it would always be Clarion at the end of the day without question.
Surely she'd understand then that she was all he wanted, needed.
Milori was brought out of his thoughts at the sound of Avalon running towards them and he looked up in time to see Clarion studying him with a frown.
Opening his arms, Milori crouched as Avalon launched herself at him.
Normally she'd deem herself "too old" for this kind of "stuff" so he said nothing and instead savored it.
All too soon she pulled away to go to Clarion.
He watched as Clarion bent lower to match her height and opened her arms as well.
Clarion kissed the top of her head and moved some hair out of her face as they hugged.
"Oh my god, that went so well- better than I expected!"
Clarion chuckled as Avalon said this breathlessly into her shoulder.
Stroking her hair, Clarion replied, "You did amazing my love, we never had any doubt you wouldn't. I'm sorry I was not here to see you off."
Pulling back, Avalon shrugged and smiled, "That's ok, you're here now. So where are we going for dinner?"
Clarion raised her brows in surprise and sent a glance Milori's way briefly.
"I wasn't told of-"
Milori interrupted Clarion however, "Avie, I didn't plan on doing anything tonight and I'm sure Clarion has plans."
At this, Avalon brought out her famous pout.
"But I told you about it earlier in the field..."
Milori cleared his throat, "Well I'm sorry but another time then."
In finishing that statement, Milori widened his eyes pointedly and made a motion to go to Archimedes while Clarion wasn't looking.
A "I'll tell you later" look.
Avalon looked confused and disappointed, "Uhh, ok."
Hugging Clarion once more, Avalon said goodbye and walked off towards the stable.
As both he and Clarion straightened, she looked at him in confusion.
"If she wanted to go to dinner so bad, why not do it? It's her special night. You need not worry on my account, I can be civil with you-"
"I said no to dinner because that was my choice, tonight is just not a good night for me."
Clarion felt like there was something he wasn't saying.
"Well, if you have plans she can stay with me tonight. We can go out and get dinner since you're busy."
"Oh, no that's ok. Thanks though."
She looked on incredulously as Milori smiled awkwardly and began to back up, looking like he wanted to leave.
"But let's have dinner tomorrow night if that works for you? Just let me know, Avie's waiting for me, bye."
She continued looking on as he practically ran away.
'What the hell', she thought to herself.
Milori was hiding something and she didn't know what.
