Lord Milori groaned.
His head felt like a giant heartbeat and his body was soaked in sweat.
Every minute he felt worse and worse, so it was a godsend when he saw a nurse, Clarion and Fairy Mary come in.
Oh how he missed Clarion in the small amount of time she was gone, how would he ever stand it when she left for her realm again?
She would need to soon no doubt and he would let her.
It was for the best.
Without speaking, the nurse walked over to him with a sleeping potion and mixed it into his water.
"Drink this my lord, you should feel much better when you wake up."
He frowned.
Why did they all look so grave?
Even Clarion looked far too serious, the smile that usually graced her full lips was nowhere to be seen.
He did as the nurse asked and instantly felt relief, he looked up and locked eyes with Clarion as he quickly drifted off into deep sleep.

"Quickly my queen", the girl said.
Clarion looked at Milori as he slept and sighed, only he could still look so handsome even while asleep and sick.
Clarion listened as the nurse walked her through the administrations.
"Afterwards you will feel very tired and weak, this is of course natural as you are giving him your very self, but it should only last a day or two."
A day or two, no problem Clarion thought, what was a few hours of sniffles compared to what Milori was going through?
She looked forward to talking to Milori about their future after the sickness had passed, it was clear there were many things left unsaid.
The next hour was spent in transfusing life forces together and the time passed ever so slowly.
Clarion felt completely drained.
After it was over she stumbled over to the chair in the corner, grateful to get off her feet.
Not only did she feel like she had just run a marathon, but she was also freezing.
The nurse quickly finished with Milori, noticing that his coloring was already coming back, and tended to Clarion.
She brought a heavy blanket and the cloak Queen Clarion had worn that morning, draping both over her.
"Every thing looks amazing!"
The nurse exclaimed, "Even better than I thought it would be, it's working so fast."
Clarion was barely able to muster a weak nod and a forced smile, anything else was far too excruciating.
"The sleeping potion is wearing off on Lord Milori and he should be awake soon, I have an herbal elixir you can take that will give you some energy so you won't look so frightful."
At that the girl sheepishly blushed and quickly amended,
"Not that you look frightful, I meant that we can make you look as you normally are... I mean..."
Queen Clarion waved her hand and reassured the girl that it was fine.
Clarion grimaced, the elixir was very sour but it instantly filled her with relief.
While she still felt tired she was now able to get up and move around a bit.
Clarion moved over to the mirror on the side of the wall and fearfully glanced at her reflection. The girl was right she thought, she did look frightful.
Not one who was naturally vain, Clarion quickly fixed her twist and righted everything else.
Perfect she thought, the only thing that she couldn't fix was the tired circles under her eyes. Oh well, she would just tell Milori that she had lost sleep over worrying about him if he asked, it was true enough.

Milori woke with a start, he felt... good.
He sat up with ease and looked around him, he felt better than great, he felt like a new man. Milori quickly stood up and tested out his seemingly newfound body.
Whatever the medicine was that the nurse had given him, he needed to ask for more, such a miracle worker deserved to be in his cabinet 24/7, Milori smirked inwardly.
He was just about to head to his closet to change and wash, when he spotted a prone figure lying in a chair in the corner.
A perfect figure he knew all too well.
Walking over, he stared down at Clarion sleeping.
She looked tired.
She must have been up all night worrying about him he thought.
It would definitely not shock him if she had and more, that's just how she was with people. Caring.
Milori shook his head, he could easily lose himself in the many things he loved about Clarion but doing so would be useless, he was cured now which meant she would go back to her realm as she should.
Gently, he bent down and scooped a hand under her waist then legs, and with ease, carried her back to his now unoccupied bed.
Before he could set her down, he heard and felt her take a deeply contented sigh as she snuggled deeper into his hold.
He almost laughed, whatever man got the privilege to do this in the future was one lucky fairy.
The thought was very sobering and he frowned at the gnawing jealousy in his gut.
However, as he stood there longer, his frown deepened for another reason.
She was light, too light.
In fact it felt like he was carrying air or nothing at all.
He set Clarion softly on the bed and looked her over closer.
She had always had a nice slender figure and the same was true now, she did not look overly thin but perhaps she had lost weight.
One thing was for sure, she looked utterly exhausted, he made a mental note to ask the nurses what Clarion had been doing while he was sick.
He quietly left the room.
There was work to be done, he had a kingdom to run.
