Under hostile political conditions, the Drizzle can finally confirm the appointment of Dominic Drindlock as the new Administrator of E'blanche. A self-confessed "anti-calanite", the Leonian - who hails from the proud valley of Épaule Tordue - has suffered greatly on the road to the top of the E'blanche government.
As opponents maintain that his nomination has been "poisoned by corruption", supporters are out in force in Bouchard square, outside the Centre du Peuple, to welcome their esteemed new leader. Despite polarising opinions, experts unanimously agree that Drindlock's appointment will spark radical change on the Leonian political front.
During his campaign, the new Administrator has been outspoken on numerous policies; namely the reliance of the Chapter on domestic economy; the unaffordability of the Post-Disappearing Care Programme; and most prominently his aversion to the Leonian-Calan relationship. Calanites are being forewarned that their associations should cease before any government intervention.
Dorian Ollivon, assistant to former Administrator, Xavier Bernard, spoke of division within the Cercle: '...Drindlock's appointment is controversial due to many factors. But the most egregious is his unwillingness to disassociate himself from the Flametraders Syndicate, a terrorist group who were wholly responsible for the Third Mining War. The Leonian people deserve a leader who does not adhere to extremist ideals...'
Fierce compatriot, Baron Pierre D'Arcy, who currently resides on the Cercle as Transport Minister, claimed it was a victory for true Leonian values. '...It has often been said that our governement represents the jaws of the lion. Now those jaws have teeth!"
