Human rights groups are demanding a full investigation into the bombing of a popular nightclub on the Cunniculum Asteroid. Night of Your Life, a hostelry frequented by many visitors from across the three neighbouring systems, was the target of an explosion responsible for the death of over three-hundred civilians.
The local security force, CASF, have spent over two months identifying victims, but they are nowhere near completion. Regular Asteroid customers have criticised the pace of the investigation and are too scared to remain for their own safety. Rumours are circulating that Harpain Sheldrick, an agent of Penumbra, was spotted leaving the nightclub moments after the explosion. She has recently been linked to the death of Prince Everett Mentari on Tabut Ketujuh, although an arrest has yet to be made. Witnesses are now saying that she has disappeared entirely.
Noteworthy among the victims were the son and daughter of banking Chancellor, Rajab Ayad. The Chancellor was unavailable for comment, but a solicitor of the Ayad Banking Conglomerate insisted that the person responsible would be brought to justice.
Pressure has been mounting on Rajab Ayad to disclose financial records on wealthy clientele by the Draco Confederation. A judiciary committee, led by the Dìguó Jūntuán (legionnaires of the Lóng Empire), have been investigating irregular transactions that link to the Greenpalm Union's demise.
Visitors of the asteroid have dramatically decreased since the incident, and many entertainment business have now shut down due to low footfall. In addition to the claim of Penumbra involvement, authorities in Hanner Cylch have been quick to indicate the possible responsibility of criminal organisations working from within the asteroid. For decades, it has been claimed groups such as the Flametraders Syndicate and Archangel Platoon reside within the hollow rock from bases of operation, although no incontrovertible evidence has been put forward.
