Chapter Six

The next day at school was better than Matty could've imagined. She met some more new friends and got to know Natty and Nellie better since they talked so much in the dorm. But throughout the day, Matty couldn't wait for school to be over so that she could meet with Sebastian again. She just couldn't help it, she really wanted to see him again.

It wasn't much of a big deal anyway, but she also hadn't left the castle since coming here so she was also excited to get out a bit.

Before she would go to meet Sebastian, Matty went up to her dorm to freshen up a bit. Nellie was sitting on her bed doing some Charms homework. She noticed Matty discarding the thick robes, opting to just keep the uniform she had on rather than wear the robes with it. She was also fussing around with her hair.

"Someone's anxious about going with Sebastian." Nellie chuckled.

Matty's head snapped from the mirror over to Nellie. "What—What do you mean?" She asked, taking her hands away from her hair. For a moment, she had completely forgotten that Nellie was even in the room. "How did you even know about that?"

Nellie shrugged her shoulders. "Word travels fast around the school, Matty." She said with a wink.

"Oh, please don't tell me people think we like each other or something. We only met yesterday!" Matty exclaimed. Although it was pretty ironic that she'd say that since she was in the mirror fussing about her appearance before going to meet with Sebastian. She didn't like him in that way—or at least she didn't think she did. Not yet at least.

"Not really no. But if you keep hanging out with him, maybe." Nellie laughed.

The summer months had made Matty forget how much you could get teased for even just being around a boy for too long. Back at Matty's muggle school, it happened to her a lot. But she'd always just tell herself she was "too old" for that kind of banter. Even though she herself was teasing Hope about her "crush" just yesterday.

"Well Professor Weasley asked me to do this, so it's not like it means anything other than trying to fulfill her wishes," Matty said, trying to play it casually.

This made Nellie close her book with a big grin. "I dunno, Matty. A little birdie told me Professor Weasley asked if you wanted to go with Sebastian or Natty—and you chose Sebastian over your own dormmate. That has to mean something."

Matty froze straight in front of the mirror. How did Nellie even know all of this!? "I—Who's even telling you all of this?" She asked, furrowing her brows, and looking back at Nellie. She felt her cheeks heat up a bit, this was just getting embarrassing. Caught in a lie.

Nellie giggled. "You'd be surprised where I hear a lot of these things. But I like to keep my sources secret." She said, further making Matty confused.

Letting out a sigh, Matty shook her head. "Okay well I'm just interested in Sebastian, nothing else. He seems fairly fun, so I thought maybe it'd be fun to go with him to Hogsmeade." She said, leaving her hair as it was and turning back to Nellie.

"He is indeed a fun guy, you made a good choice, Matty," Nellie said before returning to her Charms homework.

Matty let out a sigh of relief at not having to go through any more questions. After that, she quickly made her way down to the bell tower where she was going to meet Sebastian. She got lost a few times on the way there but with the help of her field guide, she made it, eventually.

"Fancy seeing you here." Sebastian grinned as he saw Matty walk down the stairs.

He was standing by the door, waiting for her. He, too, had also ditched the heavy robes. Matty finished walking down the stairs and walked over to him.
