Chapter Nine
The next morning, Matty looked like an absolute wreck. She had gotten no sleep the night prior and she was really feeling it. Nellie was already up, putting on her robes when Matty woke up. "You look like a mess," Nellie said, glancing over to her.
Matty rubbed her eyes. "You don't have to tell me twice. I already figured as much." She yawned, slipping out of bed. "Last night was a lot."
She walked over to the mirror and almost grimaced at her appearance. "This is a whole mess." She sighed, shaking her head. But in all fairness, it did make her chuckle a bit. Natty walked into the dorm, already dressed and ready to go.
"Looks like someone had a rough night." She said with a small chuckle. "I hope everything went okay with whatever you were doing."
Nellie nodded her head. "Although, an explanation for why we had to sneak you out of the dorm past midnight would be very nice." She chuckled as she put her long black hair up into a bun, pinning it there.
Matty just shrugged. "I was doing something for Professor Fig. An errand, to say the least." She said as she fixed her hair up. "An errand that involved Sebastian Sallow? Alright then." Natty chuckled. "That's an odd errand."
"Oh, you have no idea how odd it was." Matty chuckled, turning away from the mirror, and grabbing her robes. "If I could count all the odd things I've seen, heard, or experienced since coming to school, I think I'd be halfway to a million by now."
Natty and Nellie both laughed, she wasn't exactly lying. Natty seemed like she had something to say to Matty, but she just decided to keep quiet, she'd send her an owl about it later.
And after that, Matty set off for the Great Hall for breakfast. She was hoping that Hope would be there so she could talk to her. She had a lot on her mind right now and desperately needed some advice from someone she trusted. Hope deserved to know all of this and not be kept in the dark, but she wasn't really sure how to tell her if she barely followed herself.
Thankfully enough, Matty saw Hope walking into the Great Hall. But two other girls caught her eye, one was Zerena, whom Hope had told her about before but there was another girl she didn't recognize. She had pale blonde hair and green eyes; she was dressed in her school uniform, but she made the uniform look like it was a dress you'd wear to some fancy event. She carried herself well and with confidence. Matty wondered who she was, even by the way she walked she looked important.
Matty made her way into the Great Hall, going to the Gryffindor table. Hope walked in seconds later, skipping the Hufflepuff table to go right over to Matty, concerned about her appearance.
"Did you not get any sleep last night?" She asked, slipping onto the bench across from Matty.
Matty shook her head no. "Yeah no, not really." She said with a small chuckle. "I was up all night last night thinking of things."
Hope raised a brow. "Well, the word around school is that Sebastian got detention for you last night. Is that true?" She asked, raising a brow. The word really did get fast around here. "I heard some people speaking about it right as I was coming in."
"Yeah, I guess he did." Matty said, resting her chin on her hand. "That's kind of why I didn't sleep last night. I felt bad and I guess I was also just a bit confused as to why he did in the first place."
This didn't make much sense to Hope; Matty wasn't giving her much to go off of. "Well, that means you would've been lurking around the Restricted Section with him... Were you? And If so, why were you?" Sure, sometimes Matty got into some mischief, but Hope didn't think she'd go that far and break the rules.
