Chapter Fourteen
Professor Weasley had sent an owl to Matty asking her to meet her in the Astronomy tower so that they could speak 'somewhere away from prying eyes' but when she reached the Astronomy tower, Professor Weasley was nowhere to be seen.
When Professor Weasley was nowhere to be found, Matty was just wishing that a bit more information was given.
And then suddenly, from the stone wall behind her, a door started to form. Matty quickly turned around, inspecting the door in visible confusion. "How did that happen...?" She asked herself, running a finger over the designs of the door. And then suddenly, it opened, making Matty reel back a bit.
"Forgive me, the Headmaster stopped me, and I—." Professor Weasley started, cutting herself off when she saw that the door had already been opened. "Merlin's beard. I see you've wasted no time. Well done." She looked into the room. "Shall we?"
"After you, Professor," Matty said, following Professor Weasley in.
In truth, Matty had no idea what she was doing here. It seemed like every time someone sent an owl, they were never clear about what they wanted to do—except for maybe Professor Fig. It was always 'come meet with me and talk' and never about what they were going to actually do. But Matty assumed it did have something to do with this magical room that appeared out of nowhere.
While walking in, the first thing Matty noticed was the obvious, gigantic mess everywhere and she was suddenly clueless as to why Professor Weasley had called her up there.
"This is the 'Room of Requirement'. It only appears when one is in real need of it." Professor Weasley explained to Matty. "Ordinarily, a student might stumble upon this room entirely by accident—if ever."
"I've had enough about the 'stumbling' upon rooms, trust me." Matty thought to herself, remembering the night prior when she tried to cover for Sebastian and tell Ominis that she had just stumbled upon the Undercroft by chance.
"I'd only planned to suggest to you how to find it—by walking past that bit of wall and focusing on what you need." Professor Weasley continued. "But you've managed to reveal the room on your own. While I'm here, we should take advantage of the moment."
Matty still didn't really know why she was here, but she'd hoped Professor Weasley would explain at least a bit of it. While walking through the room, which seemed to go on forever, they came to this giant pile of chairs blocking the way through. Professor Weasley was adamant about not having to clamber over the entire thing and told Matty she should learn the spell "Evanesco" which was a vanishing charm.
So, once learning it, Matty tried it out on the chairs, and they vanished within the next moment. Oh, the pranks one could pull with this spell.
They walked further into the room and Professor Weasley seemed to be a bit agitated about not being able to find a certain house-elf named Deek. "Where in Merlin's name is that elf?" She huffed, looking around but something else caught her eye. "Is that—? Goodness, my old-school bag! I wondered where it had got to. Can't believe it's still here."
She looked up at Matty. "I'll just take a quick look at this—give you an opportunity to explore on your own until we locate Deek."
"Alright, Professor," Matty said, nodding her head before walking further onto the small path through all the stuff in the room. It was really useful to have Evanesco now, it made getting through everything much easier.
She entered a room and suddenly something was thrown at her, she quickly ducked. "Yikes! Careful!" She said, looking up.
When she looked up, she saw a house elf. She assumed this was Deek, Professor Weasley's elf. "Oh! There you are!" Deek said. "Wait right there! Deek will come to you." He insisted, clambering down from where he was.
