Chapter Ten

Sebastian's POV of the Restricted Section

It had been a few hours since Matty had asked for my help with getting into the Restricted Section—which I happily obliged to do. Being as clever as I am, it shouldn't be much of a problem at all. Either way, I was just glad Matty was asking me for help, it made me feel like she trusted me.

To be completely honest, from the moment Matty walked through the doors late to the Sorting Ceremony, I had a few I assumed something would be different about her and since then, my suspicions have been confirmed.

Now how they've been confirmed, I'm not really sure yet. There's just something different about her and I don't mean it just in the way that every guy says to a girl he likes just to try and flatter her—something is actually different about her. I just cannot tell what it is yet.

The way she acts, the way she presents herself, the way she was so casual about asking me if I could sneak her into a part of the school where both of us could easily get in trouble for—no one else I'd ever met would dare ask me that.

After successfully sneaking out of my dorm room (and after almost being scolded by my best friend, Ominis) I made my way to the central hall, being sure to look out for the annoying prefects that practically lined the halls. I wasn't surprised when I hadn't become a prefect coming into my fifth-year. I was far too troublesome for that and either way, I would've rejected the offer or just simply not done my job. It'd be quite hypocritical to do a job I hated all four years following before my fifth year.

I leaned against the stone railings right before I saw Matty walking down the stairs—she was actually here. I don't know why, but a small part of me was nervous that she'd never show up—for some reason, I just desperately wanted to see her again.

I smiled, seeing her walk down the stairs towards me. "There you are. I was beginning to think you were going to never arrive." I said to her.

"Sorry about that. I had to sneak out of the common room. Natty and Nellie had to help me since Sir Nicolas was still lurking around." Matty said with a light chuckle. "But not to worry, I got out without anyone else knowing and they'll keep it a secret."

I would've paid to see Natty and Nellie help sneak Matty out, it'd seemed to be quite a hilarious situation. "Good, come here," I said to her, waving her over to the railing. I looked over to the library door that I had snuck into so many times, crouching down a bit. "See there? That's the door we need to reach."

Seeing the prefects made my stomach turn—Merlin I can't describe how much those students made me angry. I was older than the lot of them—I turn sixteen in nine days, and I don't usually tend to listen to people younger than me.

Matty nodded her head. "I can be sneaky, let's go." She said, turning to leave.

Knowing that neither of us would have any chance of getting past the prefects if we just stayed like this, I grabbed Matty's wrist, trying to be as gentle as I could. "Hold on now," I said to her, gently pulling her back. She looked a bit confused but also had a bit of red on her cheeks.

"There's a spell you should know—the Disillusionment Charm. Good for getting places you're not supposed to be." I told her, remembering all the times that I had snuck in with that same charm. "Cast it, and you'll appear as little more than a trick of the light. Just as long as you keep your distance and stay quiet."

Matty seemed excited—very excited about that one. Her expression immediately lit up. "You mean I'll actually be able to turn invisible?" She said with excitement in her voice.
