Chapter Sixteen
"I have four assignments, one from Professor Hecat, one from Sharp, one from Professor Garlick, and one more from Madam Kogawa." Matty sighed as she walked down the hall with Hope and Garreth. It was a Saturday so there was plenty of free time. "I know Professor Weasley told me that I was going to get extra assignments to help me catch up but four at one time?"
"Aunt Matilda has a habit of giving more than she initially tells you," Garreth said as if he had gone through the same situation—which he probably had.
Hope just chuckled. The schoolwork had been a bit more plentiful recently because all of the fifth years were taking their O.W.L's this year. "I mean I don't mind learning new spells, they are very useful and I can get most of this stuff for the assignments in Hogsmeade but I've been working on them over the weekends since I've been so busy," Matty said, looking over the list of things she needed for the various assignments.
"Well, at least you're trying to get the assignment done," Hope said to Matty glancing at Garreth. "I remember in second-year that Garreth would purposely avoid assignments."
"Hey! You're not using the full context of why." Garreth protested, looking at Hope with furrowed brows. "I had better things to do, no one becomes good at brewing potions if they don't spend their time on it! I could care less for Defense Against the Dark Arts so I felt like I didn't need to do the assignments."
Matty just looked over to Hope, who shook her head. "It lost Gryffindor house points," Hope said.
"Shush," Garreth said, rolling his eyes. He was sure that everyone had forgotten about that, but apparently not. "Well Matty, if it makes you feel any better, Hope and I can accompany you to Hogsmeade while you're gathering the supplies for your assignments."
"Oh, I wouldn't want to impose or take away from either of your Saturdays," Matty said, shaking her head. "Sirona told me she wanted to speak to me the next time I came to Hogsmeade so I told her I'd be there when I went to pick up all of my supplies for the assignments."
Hope shook her head. "Not to worry, you can just gather your things and then go meet Sirona, but we can still accompany you on the way there. It's not like either of us have anything better to do."
Well, Matty couldn't argue with that, so the three of them continued to the outer part of the school so that they could get on the path to Hogsmeade. Matty was still wondering why Sirona wanted to speak with her, after all, several people since Matty had come to school had asked for favors and she assumed this was one of those situations. Of course, she had no problem helping out—she had just helped Mr. Moon collect two demiguises from the school, and in turn, he taught her Alohomora.
She was also helping Mr. Weeks, and a few students such as Arthur Plummly with some treasure map he found, and some second-year named Zenobia Noke, who had constantly been annoying Matty to help her, so she just gave in in order to stop being annoyed by her.
When they reached Hogsmeade, Matty stopped by Dogweed and Deathcap and J. Pippins to get some things for her assignments, which were the two easy ones. Kogawa's and Hecat's assignment would have to wait since she promised to speak to Sirona.
"Well, I have everything on the list, all I have to do is attend class for these two," Matty said, looking at her list. "I'll be off to talk to Sirona now, thank you two for accompanying me to Hogsmeade."
Hope and Garreth smiled. "Of course! We'll see you back at the castle. Good luck with whatever you have going on with Sirona. " Hope said, turning with Garreth to go back to the school. A flirtatious conversation immediately struck up between the two of them and Matty rolled her eyes.
